Diso Penalty: Good idea, especially needed with the new map vote screen ("nah, why did those scumbags vote for this crap map, i wanted the other one, I`ll disco and try it with another mech") Map / Game Mode Vote: The Idea would be nice, if all maps would be somehow equal. But the hated maps (for example Bog and Terra) are the new real "unseen", same for Conquest mode. Cold maps are now very often selectet, due to the existing laser vomit meta.
I'm a bit worried that PGI will interpret their voting data in the wrong way. "Oh, so people like small maps without eyecandy, they even prefer arena-like metal platforms? Alright, lets make new maps that are like HPG and frozen city!" Instead PGI should realize WHY ppl don't like their new maps (visibility) but that's just not gonna happen This voting system is stupid. seriously, I hate braindead alphawarrior skirmish.
I already tweeted the following: @russ_bullock @Blitz_Berlin @MechWarriorF2P Voting is changing MWO in cold maps online, would limiting the choice to 2 maps help?
Map voting is a terrible idea. I got 5 Mining Collective, 5 Canyon network, 1 Crimson strait and 1 frozen city last night. I predict this voting thing is gone in 2 weeks
The disco thing is nice and fair. I do suffer from occasional disco but not common enough to get me into problem even with this, but it would stop deliberate disco people. Also, I am happy they do not penalize people that disconnect after they are dead, no point hanging around, really.
Especially if you are PUGing...... Detrimental if you are farming or leveling. Map voting is stupid from a pug point of view, and would only work if you knew all the people you were dropping with. The fixes to the new camo/color mod screen are welcome.... though it should be said that it was fine before it was new-ified. I wonder if they will ever initiate a saved configuration/asset management system. It would be a nice thing to just strip all my assets from every mech in my inventory, so I can see what I have and be able to define a configuration in the mech lab, apply it and go. It's hard for me to believe, after a year off from playing, that they still haven't done something like this.It would be a big time saver, and help with organization of assets.
That would be a so-called "nice to have" which is not important from a business perspective. PGI is pretty cool because they actually do stuff like that instead of focusing 100% of thier resources on content that can generate new income. Look at Wargaming and then tell me again that PGI is "selling out" - they are not, really. I'll be hanging outon the PTS tonight with some unit mates because i'm really interested in the new skill tree idea which nerfs heat and big alpha pretty substantially, also NASCAR will get less popular hopefully... What I don't understand are those completely random changes to laser ranges and the IS med pulse laser nerf is just retarded. I'm really skeptical about IS / clan balance and I predict total clan OPness again. edit / PS: The voting system is really annoying
I dislike the new voting system as well. People will always select the colder maps which takes away some of the variety. Sure I cringe when I have a hot mech on a hot map but that is a lot of the challenge. You have to manage four resources simultaneously with many builds - heat, ammo, weapon cooldown, and armor/health. If you go laser vomit you get rid of one of the resources to manage and combine that with a cold map and you get a real advantage to running all laser, all the time. That takes away from the build variety and the gameplay variety. Add to that monotony the inability to get a conquest game and people are quickly going to get bored. I really like conquest because it forces you to consider other objectives than just blasting the hell out of the enemy. I didn't realize that a lot of people didn't like it until I got a series of assault and skirmish games last night without a single conquest. Fallout 4 is out next week so I'll probably take a break until the Mauraders drop into my mech bays. At least this silly foray into game mode democracy will make it easier to stay away.
Well, at least there is a way to avoid the night maps I guess. Most people I know avoid the new maps cause of nights.
That moment when you had a dakka mech in terra therma I guess voting will go aways or will be tuned soon, only cold map yeah, even if night maps really do suck, not being able to see anything in normal settings is never too cool.
taking a break too. I'm not having fun and apparently a lot of players are leaving right now because waiting times are getting worse and worse. Don't want to complain too much, I'm sure there are enough people loving the new system. I don't.
but hey even if I am taking a hiatus from live-mwo at the moment (except from our MRBC match against PGI tonight -- im having a BLAST on the test server. it's glorious! MWO might actually be a new game after the re-balancing.
