So... What can this do that the Firestarter can't?

I don't see a reason to use these guys, but I love the way they look. They just seem so underpowered and underquirked right now...

So what's everybody else using them for?

The WLF-1 is actually pretty good I gotta build made with 5 MLs with Max engine and it's just as strong as a firestarter....but you gotta make compromises with it lol

    No JJ though.

The only good variant on it due to the XL315 capacity.

The WLF-1 has a better Heat Efficiency with 5SPL than the FS9-A with the same loadout and it can run at 160KPH with Speed Tweak (XL315)...but yeah, no JJ's on it. I think the range is slightly better too.

Oops, thinking of the Arctic Cheetah, not the FS9-A. So umm...it can run faster than the FS9-A and guess that is about it :p

My FS9-A doesn't stop after mounting 5 SPLas, though...

I kind of feel like maybe PGI isn't troubling themselves too much with the quirks on mechs like this one because they're planning on the mass rebalance soon anyway, so hopefully these guys get some love then.

Ok... saw a 2x ERLLAs, 4x SLas build yesterday which actually seems to be doing what the chassis is supposed to do. That one was outright scary being one of the last survivors on Alpine with the majority of our mechs already pretty beaten up. An ACH of ours managed to sneak upon him, though.

Well, I have noticed that the WLF tends to take hits first in the arms. If you run torso mount weapons, your arms will give you longer life, even if you don't see the enemy in time to twist.

So the WLF-1 runs almost as fast as a Death Knell, and with 4 MPLas, not a giant punch I agree, it can fire pretty consistent. I am far from being a "pro" at this yet I have had pretty good success using this mech.

When I was running the other WLFs I didn't experiment with the arm theory, but perhaps they have a similar advantage.

One thing I have discovered (while running Locusts) is that you can climb a lot of stuff if you are going fast enough. So not having jjs is not as big a loss as it would be if you were in a heavy or assault.

the Wolfhound seems to be incredibly tanky and very hard to kill. Can you confirm this or am I just a potato?

a lil late to the party but
its prolly just me but whenever i play the nova
wolfhound have the tendency to get the full blast of 6small lasers dead right in the torso in an up-your-face brawl(like 50m)
im not making fun of wolfhound tho, its just something i noticed
