Previously, I was running the XL300 build of the same loadout (the one up on metamechs.com) and was very happy with it. Then I moved from the top of tier 3 to the bottom of tier 2. The biggest difference? My side torsos were getting blown out a lot more often. So I cobbled this together to add a little more durability. Would love some thoughts on it. Pros: -Obviously, no more side torso deaths. -What most consider a disadvantage compared to the 3M, the hardpoint placement in 2 torsos instead of 1, this build turns into an advantage. The enemy can't neuter you by popping just one of your torsos. Granted, 2SRM4 isn't very scary, but it's enough that they can't ignore you. -Artemis. Some say you don't need it with SRM4s on the 2N, but I still notice quite a difference. Cons: -Kind of slow for a medium. With the STD275, you basically become a squishier heavy with less firepower. -Less heat efficient than the XL300 version. But I find myself doing more hit and run than brawling these days.
Yeah, I run something similar to the Machine when I use the XL300, but the Machine has no artemis on the standard version. Even with the quirks, I find artemis still makes a big difference. Getting all those missiles to hit one section seems to be pretty important. I find without the artemis, I might put up higher damage numbers, but end up with less kills.
