Bahahahahahahahahah! Someone got flushed. I saw the comment in question. My fiance is actually of that ethnicity. Dick move bro, dick move. Also, you really are a bit of a narcissist aren't you? Nothing is really worth anything to you except your own opinions eh?

    Enjoy the cold!

While I don't have the money to pay Grimm what he is asking for the site I also don't begrudge him the right to charge what he wants for it. Especially if it is includes everything. I don't know whether he is looking for this from private players, from PGI or from other companies with similar games but I can tell you that companies would pay big bucks for a turnkey solution on advertising. Much more than $2500-$3000.00 USD or whatever he is asking.

6000+ members on this site and who knows how many Twitter and Youtube followers? That is worth more than $100.00

Also, the domain turns up in search engines really well. Also worth more than $100

I think this site has been going for as long as MWO has no? That is like instant presence for any new owner/entity that isn't related to MWO or Mechwarrior or whatever.

Hell I hope he sells it and that it stays within the community, where else am I going to rant, but at the same time far be it from me to attempt to make fun of him for it. He has let us know in advance, hasn't hidden anything from us and didn't just pull the trigger on it without a heads up. Respect.

LOL, as someone who's actually met Michel IRL i find your empty "threat" super funny..

Now put your money where your mouth is and do it Soy, host a new specs type site for that 10$ a month you claim you can. DO IT! I dare you and active players will probably thank you..

I've seen a lot of silly shit written on this site but man was that some dumb shit, especially coming from you Soy.. :D Better go smoke a bowl and calm down before you pop a vein. :D

In fact, NOT buying this is a really bad move on the part of PGI now that I think about it. If a competing company bought this domain, and they had an awesome product, that would lure yet more players away from an already starving game. I'm actually quite surprised that PGI didn't snap this up instantly.

My god, the Mayan were right. The end is near when Jacob nails it! j/k... sort of.

You make many good points Jacob and I can't really give any feedback on any of it right now sufficed to say that yes, this would be an ideal turnkey solution for a company in the video game industry; especially if it were a similar genre. Then again Popular Science could buy the domain and turf the site or a Car Club or an eye wear company specializing in the latest robotic and mechanical eye wear.

There is a lot that can be done with the domain, with the domain + the site or with the domain + the site + the social media aspects that come with it. The sky is the limit :)

I'm sorry if you took offense to Soy's comment. I wasn't able to redact that one as fast as I would like. You know we don't allow stuff like that up in here.

Now I'm just curious as to what the comment was. It was Dickwolf, wasn't it? People are always trying to keep the dickwolves down...

    LOL funny guy.

It was relating to a religious ethnicity that was a focal point in WW2 and the fact they are stereotyped as being frugal with money then it was combined with a word that is associated with people who collect things excessively. Regardless, it was uncalled for an inappropriate. I have left the message there, as with all his other messages, but due to the nature of the comment and the previous warnings enough was enough.

considering there is rarely any content posted to twitter or youtube, probably very very few TBH. This site is the only thing of worth. Everything else might as well start fresh and be no worse off than they already are. This site never needed other social media, it didn't operate or provide content in a way that those were necessary or very useful. Twitter occasionally posted news, but MechSpecs isn't a very good news source. Reddit has proved to be a much better source of news and discussion. This site has been for one thing and one thing only: Mech Building. Sure it has it's own unique community like every forum does for whatever purpose. But the primary purpose of this site is mech building, not news (other than balance) and not ideas or content creation. This site benefits the most from reputation and word-of-mouth advertisement.

    so in essence:

1100 twitter and 1000ish YouTube. We've never bothered with a social media army. Then again mwo itself has less than 14k followers on twitter.

Well, this is going to get dirty real fast.

SeanLang (Phil) has already reached out to the community and has started a replacement location to post content similar to what was done here. Easy as that.

Honestly, I don't care where it will end up. I mostly come here to oversee mech releases now. Maybe it will get traction over at No Guts, maybe not. So far, their reddit post has a 91% approval rating and we have all been having a nice discussion there. The idea looks to be received well by the community. All I care about is that this type of community persists. Not necessarily with the same people, but the same atmosphere and openness of build thread creation and critique.

Helping them over there, to me, would be no different than helping out here tbh. As long as people go there and it feels like a real community.

I think it will be. I've always loved this place because of the lack of cruel judgement and the willingness to help. If we don't get that over there, well, we can look for a new place. Honestly, though, I am glad to know of a future even though I am still sad for the loss of our past.

    Thanks, everyone :)

Nawwww, not at all. I wish those guys much luck and success with their project; whether it be a "replacement" for MechSpecs or not. In fact it makes perfect sense in that PGI already employs them so it would be a method of centralizing everything for MWO under one roof so to speak. The flow of information can be controlled and directed by PGI rather than a wildcard like it was here at MechSpecs. It could promote a more harmonious community controlled indirectly by PGI through the No Guts guys. That could be a major asset to the community.

Just read the reddit thread, and well, i always wondered why they hadn't done anything similar before. I could understand why they or PGI didn't want to buy this site. Why buy, if they can do the same on their own? As long as MechSpecs existed, i could imagine they thought there was no necessity to build a concurrent site. But now with Michael's sign off at the end of the year, everything is open for 2016.

Either Michael can sell the Site to someone who is able to continue the Administration and the site exists for some time longer for us. Or he sells the domain, and then MechSpecs becomes something completely different.. I will miss this site for sure. And even if Redacted builds something similar, not sure if I would go over. Maybe i would check there for builds, but probably won't be a member/doing creative build works, as I was/did here.

If someday MW5 or MWO2 would be released in the Future (by some other Dev Studio) with much more Immersion to the BT Universe, and a similar Site like MechSpecs (independent from the Devs/Publisher) would be created, i'll be glad to join again.

Until this site shuts down, let's have a good time together.

    Cheers

Don't despair just yet Blagg. Check the Mods forums. Nothing in stone yet but I think it might be something you want to take a look at before you climb into the tub and cut your veins. ;)

The whole point of coming to MechSpecs was because it wasn't controlled by the Fanboi Army. We could say what we wanted here (within reason) without fear of Big Brother coming down upon us. We could argue, we could discuss, we could bitch and whine and complain. Hell you even tolerated Soy and I for as long as you did. PGI would be banning people left and right for expressing free opinions. I know a few of my fellow Goons have actually been swayed by discussions and decisions that were posted on THIS site because it wasn't controlled by PGI or the No Guts [REDACTED] guys.

The whole frigging point is that MechSpecs wasn't a propaganda machine. We MechWarrior / Battletech fans are a passionate bunch but the last thing we need is someone shaking our hands and then reaching in to our pockets all the damn time. Like your video on your YouTube channel says man there are fucking packs for sale every month. More money, more money, spend spend spend and very little return or growth. At this point it feels like PGI changes the lipstick on the pig and sends it back out into the field to see who will dance with it.

Anyways, I plan on hanging out here until the lights go out and if you sell it to someone else I'll see what THEY have to offer unless it's PGI in which case I will simply move on to greener pastures. Nothing they can do at this point would really rebuild my trust as a consumer. Anything that No Guts puts out will be tits on a bull because the savvy consumers know they are just a mouth piece for PGI. Plastering Bombadils voice all over their videos doesn't really do a lot for their "impartial for the community" image they try and portray.

Jacob, while I appreciate your enthusiasm please no more attacks against the guys at NG. While Phil and I have not always seen eye to eye we are both passionate about the universe of the Inner Sphere (yes, clan space too) and all things Battletech. He isn't here to defend himself and I'm not going to just allow you to walk up one side and down the other.

I appreciate you enjoy the space here, I do, but dude. Seriously. Ima flush you! Foo!

My personal Dream: MechSpecs in a new Ownership making it grow to something bigger, something more Meta for Mechbuild-discussion - a Site for all current Mech-Games, about Mechstuff/Builds etc. from all the Top Mech-Games of here and now, and bit of News about upcoming Mech-Games, like Sites about MOBA Games.

Think about it, there will be more Mech Games coming, probably with Mechbuilding features as well.

For each Mech-Game there is a sub-site and Players can find whatever they want for their favorite Mech-Games.

Too sad Michael has no further business interest with this domain..

This. I have reservations about it moving to No guts no galaxy... I would prefer a community ran forum instead of one being supported/funded (however that arrangement is working) by PGI.

Honestly, and I mean this in as nice of a way as I can, I don't give two shits who runs the site that they are on, having a place where we can direct new players to see good builds (and learn what they're doing wrong with bad builds) is a crucial part of helping new players get into this game. As such, I've started copying some of the better builds over to the NGNG forums, since they have opened up some new spots for those builds to exist. However things go now, those builds are going to stay visible so we can help people use and learn them.

I don't really care about the rest. I'll post here still, and I'll post there now as well...and if this site dies, the builds I use and suggest to people will still be out there.
