I felt like this mech was different enough to warrant a new post. If the ghost heat becomes permanently removed from 3 LPL, this mech will be very effective. Honestly I will run it this way even if the ghost heat is implemented again. 20 DHS, a 53 damage alpha, and an alpha that only brings your heat up to 37% is a pretty nasty combo when you can run at 81.8KPH
Checking things out, I would say the best way to brawl around with this and still have some speed would be with a STD360, 3x LPL, 3x MLas. With the quirks, the cooling should be very manageable. 48pt alpha with quick duration due to quirks. MLas range matches LPL range... solid build for a ranged brawler. I dig it! Must test tonight! Go STD350 for a little more cooling if you don't mind the speed...
If you really want to go with an XL, try exchanging one LPL with a LBX. This adds some serious crit and takedown potential to this mech and uses the ballistic quirk (made this build ages ago: https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/blr-1g-wubcrit-1x-lbx10-2x-lplas-4x-mlas-xl375.5102/). Or with 3x LPLas: But today, in a world full of clan laser vomits and heavily quirked IS laserboats, I don't use a XL on the Battlemasters anymore (except LRM boat). Your STs get cut of in no time, especially if an opponent notices that you move quite fast for an assault...compare that to a Timberwolf (heavy mech!), which is somewhat of a benchmark when I try to think of laser builds. That's why I prefer the STD version of Cpt Chattahah, the longer you live, the longer you will be doing damage . Also, ~6kph is a tradeoff I'm willing to accept in an assault mech, that has to brawl from time to time.
The heat difference is 1.1 per laser (and HPS is about 25% higher), but you could do it for the range alignment.
