I've been running this build for a while now and had a great time. It can fire at all ranges with a small crossover in between. As you will rarely of the opportunity to fire both LRM and MPL at the same time the heat becomes very manageable. If you have finished elite on the C1 then heat becomes *very* easy to manage Primary Variant Variant M (mobility) -1 TON LRM AMMO -1 TON ARMOR (LEGS) +2 JUMP JETS Variant C (close combat specialist) -ARTEMIS +2 DHS
I don't think this many DHS is necessary unless you're using both sets of weapons at the same time. I run an ALRM60 Awesome with 11 DHS, and I overheat a bit but it's not too bad. I think when I do C1, if I do LRM boat, I'd only go with 12 DHS (all in the engine), replace the MPLs with 3xML+Tag, max JJ, get 6 tons of ammo and BAP (400 STD armor should round that out). Bit more mobile than this build, with a bit more ammo (literally double what this is running).
This is my c1 version which is waiting for next patch. Enough heatsinks to shoot lrms all day, enough ammo to do it and before you run hot because of the meds youre already dead.
I appreciate all of your input but your builds are too focused on long range engagements and too weak up close. There are enough builds like that for C1s that you really dont need to repeat them in here. My built was made this way for a purpose, and its deadly the way it is. If anything in the same weight class runs up to me to try to finish me off they are in for a surprise - I will severely damage them if not kill them outright. Lower weight classes don't stand a chance. Run out of LRMs or having difficulty keeping a long on my target? Then I can quickly close the distance and finish them off with repeated salvos of 4 MPLs, which eat through armor rapidly. Want more ammo? Swap out one of the heat sinks for an extra ton of LRM ammo. Want a ton of long range power and a few piddly medium lasers? Use someone else's build, and hope that I don't get a chance to get close to you - because you wont last.
PPC's need to be standard on all Catapults. In case you like SRM's. For science and stuff. C1-Pults are the best of the class IMO.
Just wanted to say I tried the OP's first build with the 4x MPL 2x LRM15+A and I find it to be a lot of fun and pretty darn effective. I don't find myself to be considerably more fragile than my K2 with has a standard engine and this thing actually has a chance to make an escape. Good versatility and high fun factor, can't really ask for more.

I rather enjoyed OP's primary variant. 540 missiles often wasn't enough, but the Artemis was a huge plus and when my LRMs ran out the enemy was significantly weakened for me to get 'in there' or to just save my bacon when the lights got sniffy. edit: ackstorm, minor suggestion - put the second load of LRM missiles in the more heavily armored leg. It's only 2 points, but there's no advantage I see in putting it in the 56 vice the 58.
