Looking to get my third spider, have the D and K. The A looks loads superior to the V with 2E, 2B, and 1M hardpoints, plus double AMS. Is anyone running the SDR-A yet?
I don't have it yet, but given that it has more weapons than the V, it is technically better. If you really want it, buy it. I'm waiting till it's half off or free, but that's just me.
Im gonna get serious for a second with the new rat: This, as close range annoying fly, should work nice in it. Its impossible to overheat, so u can keep firing forever, and the low cooldown of all weapons should worth the tradeoff for dmg output. The BAP its standard for all my front-line mechs, cause its way more usefull that it seems, really, but u can easily switch the 1.5 tons of it and 2 tons of the SSRM and its 1/2 tons of ammo for upgrades in lasers or a more direct fire mechanic: MPLas LRM5+more ammo SRM4+XL270 (really fast one, worth to consider it seriously) In many ways, if the -5D would be like this, with ballistic slots, all other lights would be obsolete instantly. So we can say it was a wise choice to not place an ECM slot in it

Heh thanks for quoting my initial post from the other thread There was one more build that's good, a NARCer. Especially if this guy runs with a Raven 3L, it could be a nasty support marker. Edit: How about a BAP Streak Anansi with and without AMS? With: Without: Without AMS, but TOOOOP SPEEEED! 150 SSRM ammo seems like way too much, so you could probably drop a ton for either more armor, a bigger engine, more AMS, or more JJs on any of these. I tend to run a lot of my lights with only 1 JJ and they work just fine, so I tend to revert to that number on a lot of builds.
Trouble i see with no-AMS config, but also with using the SRM6, is that i think they are too similar to the -5K best config, and thats not exactly a good mech. I think that one of the key lays around the use of SRM4 or similar weapon system for that slot to make a real difference in the field, sorta Commando in steroids. EDIT: while i was writing Durandal placed the NARC config. I think thats a good role that completely apply for this mech, still i feel it underpowered vs the -3L as NARCer.
I snuck in some more builds too I see the NARC loadout as one that would be amazing in pairs...team it up with a CMD-2D or RVN-3L, and have them run together. Anansi gets the ECM from his wingman, and the pair of them combine to offer up some decent firepower with a NARC alongside it. Anansi could still do well as a solo NARCer, but without the ECM it's a lot more risky, so Radar Derp is a must. I don't own one yet, but I see the Anansi as being a terror in maps like Frozen or River City, and Canyon Network...and probably HPG Manifold and Terra Therma as well...while maps like Tourmaline and Alpine will be its bane. That said, with max speed, it'll be a great distance closer, LRM Boats would do well to be wary of this little guy. Edit: Still experimenting Streak Anansi, less ammo, max speed, with MPLs instead for max close range damage:
I would say so personally, I absolutely love running this mech. One of my personal favorite lights...ever.
