So I enjoy other card/board games like Risk, Magic, Hearthstone, Stratego and such but I really have been itching to play Tabletop Mechwarrior. I'm not the greatest at painting so the unpainted models kinda are deterring me atm also I really don't know where to start x.x It seems like such a huge tabletop! Any tips or advice for how to start out a battletech collection or tips etc? anything is appreciated
Is there really a collection to start out? For years I used Legos to figure the mechs. And as long as I can tell which way it's pointing, I could use tortilla chips.
yea there is a 60 dollar starter edition on the Battletech website with everything needed to play and start out but all the figures are unpainted x.x
Get the starter set and if you like it get the IronWindMetals miniatures and use them instead. I've got an entire company "The Grimm Reaper Company" and fortunately for me they were painted by the same guy who did many of the models for the Anniversary Box Set as he lives in my city!
Please note: There is BattleTech, the 31st Century Game of Armored Combat, the boarg game/ miniatures war game which is around since 1984. Then there is MechWarrior: Dark Age, (later rebranded MechWarrior: Age of Destruction) a miniatures game based on Jordan Weisman's Clix system (Heroclix, Mage Knight), featuring pre-painted plastic figures, which existed from 2002 to about 2008 (IIRC).
