indeed I have. macro firing 2 every 1/2 second still works fine. Bring you to ~85% heat on a neutral map i think it was.

I think it will make a fine build for cw. I will macro each arm that way if I want to expose my right side I can fire 4, and then expose my left side and fire 4. Then if I need to I can fire all 8. (macroed)

Just do yourself a favor and keep a chain fire for each arm so you can single fire during hot panic moments.

I am running the OG build and wow. I have been averaging around 600 dmg. Does good on terra therma, very good on alpine (of course), decent on river city, great on tourmaline, good on crimson strait. Honestly still one of my favorite direwolf builds. The most rewarding part is when a Stalker 4n thinks you are too hot to murder him, so he charges you and then you melt him and spray lasers on his smoldering corpse. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

    5/5,
Great extreme range build and can handle almost any mech if you manage your heat.

Its just that...it sounds so awesome on the Manifold map.

three quick battles, all bad losses, never did less than 529 damage
And none of the battles "felt" like I did crap in terms of damage.
I'd use the ERLL's on CW drops however, range hurts

I tried something like this awhile back, which was, admittedly, even hotter, but even this version still feels way too hot. Having one go at your alpha damage really isn't worth it in my opinion, when you can go with one of the variations of the dual-gauss + laser boats for the heatless weapons. The large lasers also have such a long duration that you really have to keep a steady aim on a component to do much useful damage, and it feels like I'm just inflating that number rather than neutralizing threats. And yes, I have tried macros and staggering, but it slows down the DPS too much. I don't like giving harsh ratings, but I don't think this is really a practical build. Feel free to help me understand if I'm missing anything.

Thank you for your feedback ;)

Few things you may not be considering when comparing this ERLL boat to the more typical Dual Gauss builds:
    • Pin-Point: At ~1000m you will be doing near max damage with instant damage application. You can follow lights and mediums that are moving fast at range. It's guaranteed damage vs. a ballistic weapon like gauss that requires target lead and is much more difficult to hit a small, fast moving target at range.
    • A macro to fire 4 groups of 2 with 0.5 second delays does not "slow down the DPS" it is the exact opposite. you are bursting the mech's MAX DPS in the shortest amount of time possible. So for that time, you are actually dumping out ~19 DPS at 838m. Dual gauss alone can't do anywhere near that DPS. 2 Gauss+4 ERLL can manage 16 DPS at that range. The meta 2 Gauss+2 LPL+4 ERML can deal 19 DPS as well, but has A LOT less range. 2 Gauss+2 ERPPC is the lowest burst DPS of them all at 14.59 Max DPS. (See chart below for stat comparisons between builds)
    • This is a niche build for extreme ranges only. Yes, I agree that does not make it a good build for typical engagement distances and some of the map-sizes, but it EXCELS at that distance. IMO, nothing can beat it at 1000m+ ranges. This is the subject of the latest Build Battle and we will find out soon enough!
    • Sustained DPS is not terrible, it is considerably less than the other builds, but that is the trade-off for maintaining that DPS at over 800m. Once this mech gets hot, it cools down substantial faster than other builds due to the 30 DHS compared to ~22 for most other builds. In public drops, you can easily shoot off a macro volley, then cooldown in cover for the next.

ugh, big charts make dawgs brain hurt

is there a link titled macros for retards? Not retard like the slanderous verbal attack on mentally challenged, but retard like...well, like me.
Smart enough to be a threat but desperately needs tutorial. small words and photos dont offend either.

gawd i hate stalker 4n's...they have gotten soooo flipping uppity I had relied on gauss to remove those bulbous side things, but want to do lasers.

    @That Dawg
I know a lot of people use AutoHotkey for macros. I'm sure there are video tutorials if you browse Google. Do you have a gaming mouse? I personally just use the Logitech software that allows simple macros. There is a tab where you can "record" mouse and keyboard actions.

    For this mech I just hit 1,2,3,4 (weapon groups). it registers as: 1(down), 1(up), 2(down), 2(up), 3(down), 3(up), 4(down), 4(up).

    Then I can right click and add delays between each action so the final looks like: 1(down), 0.25s delay, 1(up), 0.25s delay, 2(down), 0.25s delay, 2(up), 0.25s delay, 3(down), 0.25s delay, 3(up), 0.25s delay, 4(down), 0.25s delay, 4(up), 0.25s delay.

Thanks for that in-depth comparison, but I think I should've directly mentioned the build I was comparing this to in my personal testing.

    https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/dwf-prime-alpha-dog-2x-cgauss-2x-cerll-6x-cerml.6125/

It's a build I made a looooong time ago that was popular for a while, then died after the mechspecs reset :/
I'd like to see how that factors into your chart you have, as it looks higher or equal in every stat except sustained DPS.
I'm starting to feel like it's just a matter of playstyle over which type is better, so maybe I won't hit your rating so hard ;).

Oh yes, it definitely only fits a particular playstyle. Infact it FORCES a very specific playstyle in order to work correctly. Even though it is a range-beast, it requires A LOT of thought for positioning. It's easier to move with your team than it is to move along the back end of the map and keep your team between you and the enemy.

Everyone rates builds based on their own criteria or what they look for in a mech. For some it's a particular playstyle for that mech. For others it is the weapons it uses. Others yet it is simply if the build is min/max. Don't adjust your rating if you personally believe that is what it deserves. We don't hand out prizes for the top rated builds so there should be little salt about a poor rating. This mech IS shit in most situations so it really does deserve a bad rating. But then again it is very good in it's one, niche situation so many rate it well because that is what the build was made for. You can let people try to convince you or not, or you can rate with determination and resolve. Rating builds using your own personal biased opinion is actually preferred here because that allows members to get to know eachother's likes and dislikes and input on what a mech should/shouldn't be. This leads to a following, perhaps you like the way one particular member views builds, thus you weigh his opinion, ratings, and builds higher than others.

    Anywho..

I added your build, "Pain God" as we call it in our unit, to the chart up above! It basically just trades Sustained DPS for Max DPS in comparison to the LPL build. It's slightly more heat efficient than the 8x ERLL, but it also only deals about half the damage of the 8x ERLL @ ~1000m.

    3/5,
Well, I don't like telling people down when I'm not seeing the whole picture, but I see your point. I'll stick with the rating then.
I also can't help but notice that you include the fast fire skill in the quirks section. I've heard from a number of sources on the forums that this skill is broken and actually does nothing. Has it been confirmed to work in any tests lately?
It was nice discussing with you. Happy piloting!

Someone did a test recently and confirmed it works, don't remember where this was though, but i'm 99% sure it's been working for a long time. It's only a 5% cooldown so it's not going to be very noticeable.
