I tried to find a build for the blackjack, that makes use of the high energy hardpoints and offers enough range to compete with clan mechs (CW). Keeping the range for a LPL/ML build didn't work out for me in this setting with such a fragile mech. This is what I'm running right now: Effective Quirks: 12,5% energy Cooldown 10% Energy Range 10% Laser Duration 10% Energy Heat 900-1000 dmg can be achieved continuously (CW), just make sure you keep a low profile and use your range
Your quirk bonus is -10% heat, +10% range, +12.5% cooldown, -10% duration. Any reason why you use blackjack? Cause mobility in CW is lesss important as you know where the enemies will be. If you use LL there are a few mechs that would give you some nice quirk bonus. Like this Personally I would get some SRM with this build though.
Ah thanks, you're right, I missed the cooldown quirk! There are two main reasons I use it on a Blackjack: I have to fight against Stormcrows/Timberwolves most of the time. One way to do this is to somehow compete with their superior range and I have pretty good results in doing this with ERLLas. The high energy hardpoints fit this playstyle a lot, as you are able to hide 80% of your mech. Most of my CW games are won by attrition, so keeping low profile and killing mechs from range works pretty well for me I'm testing 4xERLLas today:
Made exactly the same build myself but with one DHS more. It's really easy to use and is a great harasser. I love 2ERLL ECM Raven, and this BJ-1X seems like a next logical step.
For you, this might be the next step... Only 3x ERLL, but you get to keep sneaking around with ECM, and it is fast too.
Well, both raven and BJ1x have high weapon hardpoints (cicada too), and BJ-1X can have 3 lasers in one arm, which helps you to shoot from the cover tremendously - you can either shoot hulldown, or you can sidestep from the corner. Cicada is a nice mech with hight hardpoint placement, but it's weapons are scattered all over the mech, which is not that uncommon. And it would run too hot for my taste, while on BJ i can shoot almost non-stop, even with range modules, while not exposing myself. Having all weapons in one body part surely have disadvantages, but i had my arm blown off very rarely. Probably this is a bit noobish build, but i always like to build mechs like this - very light, one armored side and other almost stripped, with maximum reasonable amount of heatsinks.
