[Feedback] MWO: Mercenary Event

The formula is very forgiving but 100 games during a week and Saturday that qualify in order to get max reward may be a bit harsh, well off to the grind mobile.

I can get a couple hundred MC to bank for a patterns sale sometime or for buying an AMERICAN FLAG cockpit item. Ain't deluding myself about getting a whole mech!

 

So far people are being total retards. Three matches in a row the other side won entirely because our side refused to kill anything. Its the same dumb formula from before that they swore they'd learnt from.

 

Now 4 in a row we've got 2 kills total.

 

It's a grind. Get 7 kill assists (140 pts) and basically win the game by killing everything, rinse and repeat a hundred times...

 

You need to actually kill more than 2 people to do that. Or one in the case of this next match.

7 losses in a row with 6 our side got 2 kills and 1 we got 1 kill.

I'd post screenshots for hilarily but PGI seem to have killed/moved the screenshot folder and its not been taking screenshots for an undetermined period of time.

@Remarius, yeah, the screenshot folder was moved to C:/User/Save games somewhere.

 

Basically you can get it with 7 assists. So To ensure you getting those assist points you LRM is unfortunately a good friend as usual.
Once again, you need a hybrid with lrm and big guns.

 

KGB-0000 with 4xERLLas and 4x LRM5? Maybe something faster would work better, though.

 

Sorry, that is too grind-y for me. If I get a chance to play this week it will be leisurly. I've been pretty burnt out on MWO from the "Events" and "Challenges" (read: grinds to inflate server populations). Honestly though, all the rewards and grinds aside; it has me a little concerned when they are giving out 2000 MC to play 100 games. How bad are server populations that they need to throw out Virgins to the Masses in order to get people to play? Just some food for thought.

 

Trying to stay positive about this so maybe they are gearing up for something we don't know about?

The good: Free MC!
The bad: This formula was proven to suck last time, since people deliberately play to damage farm and go for assists rather than kills.
The verdict: I am playing nothing but my Raven now. At least I can try to carry some games with it...and yes, I do go for kills with it.

 

Had the exact same thought, this is the first pure MC event, albeit minor reward. Almost feels like they want people to have a taste of MC to get them hooked on buying more. I'd guess it's both server pop and sales they want to up. Some people might want to round off any earnings this week aswell.

The big milestone is likely to get the game on steam this year so they will make huge efforts until then, IMHO.

 

Time to get 12 kills

 

I'm going to approach this in chunks of 15 wins (a mechbay) and not gun for the full 2k. That is simply not worth my time to grind.

So each 15 will be my milestone.

 

Being honest I just gave up after they crashed the servers for their emergency patch in Euro prime. Nine games with one qualifying as only in that one did we get more than 2 kills as a side. That one my side played very aggressively and followed my attack so we just killed everything we came across.

The breaking point was the match I got in my triple ER PPC TDR and EVERYTHING I shot seemed to be untouched. I died last with a not great 527 damage and our only 2 kills. Most of our team were sub 200, with 1 dc on 0 and 3 others under 60 damage.

I have no idea why as we had someone in AS and Lords though in fairness they were second and third damage. The other side just stood back and rained in clan laser vomit, dual gauss JM6's and TD ER PPC's. Not really sure what our side did beyond try (and fail)

I mean I wouldn't mind non qualifying games if my Kill total was climbing but its really not as my side keep dying without contributing anything which makes it almost impossible.

Coincidentally didn't they say they wouldn't us this formula again?
