Fine, the SU-25 comes and destroys your feet.

I can verify this. I actually work for General Dynamics Land Systems. I get to meet a lot of tankers, and while there are exceptions, most of these guys have big heads, and it is a bad a$$ tank, but not infallible. Maybe it's like with NAVY pilots though.... they need to have those big heads to do what they do, otherwise they are dead.

Thanks for all the replies guys, as it's Christmas I got a few quid for various people and a new pipe and some cigars so I used it to buy myself a Battlemaster 3S I think it is and tbh I'm really enjoying it along with my crab as I've toned down my aggressive play style and I'm doing more hiding than usual.

So far my best is about 1k in the Battlemaster even though I've been drinking my ass off all day.

PS. Fullers Vintage ale 2014 is amazing.

I started with Stalkers,Battle Masters then moved on to Dire Wolves and a Warhawk-B.

Success is staying with the herd, keeping mechs around you not behind. If your lance will focus on one target it lasts seconds.

After a few weeks I am honestly starting to wonder what the rest of my team are doing.

I can't really think of any assaults that are comparable to lights. Lights use superior mobility to turn paper thin armor and low range, low sustained DPS, and/or low to moderate alpha strikes into omnipresent harassment demons or ninja assassins (either way, there's ass involved). Assaults are the opposite in most of those aspects: low mobility, heavily armored, with your pick of optional range/sustained DPS/alpha strike based on your build. Even with an XL, there WILL be other mechs capable of dancing around you. Instead of floating like a butterfly and fading away to safety at will, the direction you pick, and the location you get to when you meet the enemy force, is basically the bed you sleep in for the rest of the match. At least until a decisive blow is struck, and you die, proceed, or retreat.

They require an entirely different playstyle, and understanding one should inform how you deal with the other. But there will be very little tactical overlap.

Since I finally stopped deriding them and leveled mine, I can actually say that Gargoyles are a surprisingly good fit for a light player who wants to go assault with mobility (once they are open for cbills, that is). Once I got some good builds, and got used to how mine played, I started to really enjoy the chassis overall. In many ways, they play like a Dragon, so you have to account for their low-slung arms, but they have the ability to really move and push a flank in a way the other clan and IS assaults can't thanks to their speed. Also, since people see "GAR" and think "weak" in a lot of cases, they can provide a surprising amount of punch to take people down.

If someone is wanting a fast assault, GAR is surprisingly capable...once you get used to the arms. And yes, that's coming from the guy who did nothing but talk shit about how bad they were until actually trying them ;)

Yeah, GGL weren't as bad as the press made them out to be. Sure, they're worse than TBR in nearly every way for like 5 or 10 more tons. But the reduced guilt Clan XL and left mounted laser alpha build fare well enough in most rounds.
