I've been running on the same install since closed beta, and my current has become so unstable that I only get a match or two in before it dies. Should I just reinstall?
I find it I alt tab out a lot I can get 5 games or so in before it crashes. If I don't alt tab? No problems.
it's very unstable in general and crashes a lot. Also, the Aero Theme / Desktop Composition in Windows seems to make things worse, might wanna use the old XP theme.
I would repair and reinstall if that doesn't work. It won't take long at all to do the repair and if that doesn't fix it, reinstalling isn't a huge hassle. Just start it going and when you get the long loading bar go to bed.
I have a problem with this combination as well. My TS get's muted every second..third time I press Alt-Tab (which I do very often since I have three screens) and sometimes even the gamesound is gone. pressing alt-tab again usually brings the gamesound back.. but TS stays muted....
reinstalling won't help if you don't know what the issue is. The client generates a pretty usable log file that will contain errors if there are any. Ifthe repair tool doesn't find any irregularities, that means that all file checksums are correct, all files are actually there and readable - every person I know who plays MWO complains about the shitty client and rightfully so.
For me too Alt-F4 gives me inifinte black screen. See it's not your system.. it's the client. I think the most fruitful approach is to file a bug report and let PGi know.
I occasionally get that on quitting but don't really care as I rarely get in game problems. That said there were network problems yesterday as it was discussed on twitter.
I used to have a lot of problems until I switched from full screen to windowed/full screen which seems to be the one they support now. If your not using that already try it. It seems to work way better. I also always play with aero off now as it bumps my frame rate considerably. In a Windows 7 it system> performance settings on the left hand side(or something I'm not at my comp)> adjust visual effects or performance bottom left> select best performance. That may help or at least give you a large chunk of frames back. Try it out. Hope it helps.
I will generally crash once per session, usually right at the beginning of the firefight on my first match of the day. After I come back in, my client will generally be stable for the rest of the night. This past weekend I had more crashes than normal, so will probably try out the repair tool sometime soon to see if that helps.
Run TS3 in Admin mode. simply right click the icon, and click run as Admin. That will most likely solve your problem. I've heard of this issue, and this turned out to be the solution. As for the rest of you, run the damn repair tool. It will work, as it worked for me.
I have the same issue. Evertime i quit, the client window stays in an endless loop trying to close itself forever.
The only issue I have is if I quit without logging off first, the client crashes. Repair tool didn't change anything. Easy to just hit log out and then hit quit though.
