Hi all, This is one of my favorite Ilya build: very powerful at all ranges, but really at home as mid-range support. The two high mounted PPC's for medium-longer range fire. With just two you can fire for quite a while before an overheat (while popping in and out of cover). The UAC's are for medium-shorter range when you can use them effectively. In open combat I will fire single bursts, or maybe a doubletap. If I'm in and out of cover I'll hold down the trigger to get as many shots as I can, then duck back into cover as they un-jam. I love it, and I hope you do too. (BTW, first post, woot)
High-hat PPCs and UACs? What's not to love? Edit: I applaud you for using Ilya's stock engine. Upgrading to a new XL is such a prohibitive cbill expenditure for many of us.
Big fan of this build, but I've swapped out the PPCs for their ER brother (and dropped two tonnes of ammo for a couple more DHSs). Running hot (worse under the last patch), but using it for LR support, but when the fights get up close, this thing can brawl a bit, double tap the UAC 5s, then a double ERPPC blast (however, if you do this 3 time, you will overheat).
Welcome to Mechspecs! I am impressed with this build. Thanks! AMS for those who want it, but I think this build is great as is.
Welcome to Mechspecs, I hope you enjoy your stay. Love your first post, it is very well done. better than many first post's. The range of the UAC5's and PPC's is quite nice, and you have plenty of ammo. 5-5 stars.
I like it, but switched weapons a slightly bit and managed to put in a bigger engine, but that's just my preference:
I find that 125 or less UAC5 rounds is not enough for dual UAC5s, but thats my opinion. I like the build though. I think i'd rather us AC5's instead. I love using UAC5s, they are pretty nasty when they get going.
It's a tempting mod, the AC/5s are great hammers, but don't quite bring the pain like the UAC/5s do. Can't argue with the extra DHS, though.
How well does this operate under the new PPC changes? I just wish when we ran UACs that we could carry around 900 shots. 125 just never feels like enough, although it often is.
