After several days of attempting to create the ideal SRM-Brawler for this Chassis, I have finally arrived at one that suits me.

Here we have a Timberwolf that can brawl the pants off anything with its 3 Artemis-SRM6s and its 7 SPLasers, both of which weapon-types dish out amazingly heat-efficient damage, albeit at close range. But with a Targeting-Computer-MK1 on board, the range of the SPLs is really not all that shabby, especially when you add a Level5 Range Module. ;)

With Max-Armor, an Alpha that'll scare even Direwolfs, and a sustainable DPS that's sure to rock the enemy team's world, this 'Mech is the perfect design for pilots who love to brawl, and who like to do it in cool, non-overheated comfort.

I present to you for your consideration and enjoyment: "The Perfectionist".

Edit: Replaced the original build with the 7x cSPL one, as it is really what this thread is about. For those interested in trying out the original (and as I now see it, less ideal) build, here it is:

The 3 ERMLs add a nice balance to the design, as they enable you to engage with decent effect at ranges beyond 300 meters. However, I chose to replace this original build in the thread with the updated, 7xSPL one, which I find to be even more "perfect" for the role this design is meant to fill.

How's this look? Dropped Artemis and the Mlas, swapped in one Llas, two more Spls, more heatsinks, and lost a ton and a half of missile ammo. It also has a lot less leg armor, but I've been playing the timberwolf a lot and that hasn't proved problematic for me yet.

Just tested my version- It's absolutely lethal at close range. I need to optimize the weapons grouping further, though; 5 groups is a bit much. Did almost no fighting and dealt over 400 damage and two kills. I haven't tried the version in the OP, however, so I don't know how it compares.

After some more testing, I ended up here:

3xERMLas required some serious heat management and I decided, that I don't need the extra range most of the time (I would run 6x cERMLas+3x cSRM6A, if I wanted that).

Sadly, the brawl wasn't enough: they're cappers out-capped us big time, and that last Adder shut down somewhere, so we couldn't find him to kill him.

    Still rocks.

Was last match of the night (or rather, early morning! :p). I had switched the ERMLs in the Torsi for SPLs, so the build was entirely limited to VERY close range combat. No consumables, just some really nice positioning on both sides: our guys stayed tight, and the enemy came up close enough for me to tear them apart! 1000+ damage, 5 kills, 7 assists. Ain't nothing wrong with that! :hilarious:

Edit: Forgot to mention, this is how I've actually been running the build lately, for this match and for the last couple of weeks:

Basically, exchange the ERMLs for even more SPLs, for better heat efficiency at the loss of ranged ability. But since this is a build specifically designed for brawling, I haven't found it to be a problem; I actually prefer it, since I found the ERMLs in the original design strangely under-used.
Also, this redesign uses the suggestion made by @schnaetz and drops 1 ton of ammo for an extra DHS --- heat efficiency is bread-and-butter for a brawler.

Falc, you mentioned that you switched this to run with all SPLs instead of the ERMLs...any chance you can post the updated version too? ;) Even though I want a good Assault for CW, I still think I'll end up with TBRs first...

This is how I've been running it the last few weeks, down to the very armor values as well.

Another great match in this thing (no consumables):

I also edited the thread title and the OP to show the 7xSPL build I have been using for quite some time now, instead of the original with its 4xSPL and 3xERML. The ERMLs are nice and all, but they're really just less efficient than the Pulses when it comes down to a brawl; and brawling is what this design is meant to do!

    5/5,
My first encounter with this build lasted 10 seconds, and i was running 4x6srm, 4 smpl Timberwolf, got owned hard.

When dropping in the PUG queue, words like "cheater", "hacker", "aimbot noob" are quite frank.

I would name it "THE BEAST", the efficiency is just unimaginable.

And Quote from my friend who checked it out yesterday:

"Tried it out and felt like I killed everything I aimed at."

This build is the epiphany of death in close range, If you have to engage it, do it with range and excessive firepower, you won't get second chance.

@Nakhar --- My sentiments exactly. Get this thing into sub-200 meter range, and it will DESTROY anything 1v1 . . . doesn't matter what. I'll go toe-to-toe against a Dire in this build, I won't even care. So long as I can get the jump on him at close range, I'm happy. :ninja: ;)

Legs are sooooo easy to disintegrate with this abomination, usually my first target if the enemy is not already damaged.

With the new D Omnipods, you can go back to 4xSRM6+A!

1DHS exchangeable for an Arm Actuator, Ammo or TC1

Has anyone tested this build in general with ERSMLas instead of Pulses (more basic range + TC4)? I'm out of Cbills :D

Very good point about that D torso! Sadly, it won't be available until April (?) so it'll be a long wait.

Regarding cSLasers, I can't say I've really considered them. The only advantage I see going that direction is the range, and since this thing isn't usually tight for weight anyway, I don't know that it's really even worth it, as it means lower alpha and longer burn times.

You're probably right about cSLas and its range, since TC4 only adds 10% or 20m ....nothing spectecular or anything that would fit the playstyle of this mech.
Sometimes I just have to try, tinker, optimize and fail....the curse of beeing an engineer.

P.S.: I'm still struggling with the big missle launchers for brawling as their hitboxes belong to the side torsos and this lowers my survivability by quite some margin (e.g. when compared to a timber wolf laserboat). Any tips, else than torso twisting like a madman?

A modified version of your build was the first thing to get me into the 1k club. I just dropped a small pulse and a half ton of armor added AMS. Even with one less laser I was able to hit 1052 damage.

5/5 Awesome build Falconium. Always quality stuff!

    5/5,
The build worked amazingly. Was able to put out tons of damage and have loads of fun with it. It's well thought out and thoroughly tested.
