I try to do it as much as I can, but it's not always easy with text chat.
I also try to cover them with my ECM if I have one, and that's another thing I haven't seen so often. For example few days ago (group queue) our left flank was hammered by missiles; we had a Raven-3L, but on the far right, covering like 3 mechs and paying no attention to what was happening 300m away.

Anyway, I've said it many time, this game needs a "you're NARCed" alert similar to the "incoming missiles" alert. After all it should be easier to detect there' a tracking beacon plugged into our mech than an enemy has lock on you, and it would make things easier.

Having a NARC alert would be really nice. When you're playing in group people call it out, but in pugs no one takes the time.

After some thought, I have decided that aside from the dreaded urbie, the mech I most hate running into is the metawolf. The direwhale is dangerous, but fairly easy to avoid. The metawolf can pack nearly as much firepower, move much faster, and be JJ capable. The sheer number of loadouts that mech is capable of utilizing effectively also make it difficult to judge based on first glance on what sort of danger I'm facing, and getting a target lock on one and keeping it can be hazardous to a medium mechs health if it sees you.

    If you haven't run into
    https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/smn-b-streakstorm-5x-cssrm6-cap.6024/
    or

    then count yourself lucky.

Streaks seem to be more popular than the regular splat (because SSRM 30 is scary!!!), despite sacrificing your energy/backup hardpoints to do missiles at all on top of losing the tonnage to do backup machine guns...unlike the Mad Dog and Timber Wolf, who can keep multiple energy hardpoints while still being a missile boat.

Yeah I'm not a desperate fan of streaks due to the lock time but I use a lot of SRM's nowadays. Just not on summoners. I get their ammo efficiency and use against lights but I just have trouble keeping a decent light pilot locked unless I have the speed and manoeuverabilty to chase them as they rarely stay in the open. Happy to take pointers as I'm bound to be missing a lot of tricks with them.

Sneak up behind them and laugh! ;) In my Splat-Summoner, I tend to just follow the usual Assault rule: Move backwards, instead of forward. A lot of lights simply just don't react as well when you're backing up to get them back into your sights. Aside from that, it's just a matter of aiming enough in front of a light to catch them as they move. Which is a pain, since you can only practice it mid-match.

Oh I regularly use lasers and even gauss on lights... even the much reviled PPC's have brought me many tears from light pilots as I carefully time shots (far too carefully at times!). Its just needing to keep lights locked long enough for my streaks to lock as they dodge in and out of cover that I struggle with.

Before the Clan Invasion, it was almost always the Jagermech. I was never very good with them (preferring the Cataphracts), but in the hands of a better pilot, they could rip anything to shreds in seconds at almost any range.

Nowadays, its the Maddog. I really underestimated it after it came out, since probably most people were still getting the hang of it, but now I dread coming around a corner and seeing a splatdog in my face. I really learnt my lesson when I decided to go toe-to-toe against one in my Ilya-Chainsaw and got shredded as I underestimated the cSRM range.

Yeah, Mad Dogs set up as Splatmechs are horrors on the battlefield. Never something you want to meet in a dark alley.

At the end of a long straightaway though... ;)

cSRM have the same range as IS SRM. Clan Streaks on the other hand.... have a large range increase.

For some reason I thought cSRM had a max-range of 360m, but that may be the cSSRM as you mentioned. It is very possible I was in much closer than I thought, but in any case, I severely underestimated the Maddog since I still feel (rightly or wrongly) that even after the Clans, the Chainsaw should be able to out-DPS anything short of a Timberwolf and some Assaults.

Theres another factor... IS SRM's get +30m for SRM's with the level 5 module, Clan get... 18.9m.... why I always use cooldown instead on those.

Whats the Streak +m for is/clan?

Base is 270m for IS and 360m for Clan, an 80m difference.
