http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=47&l=08e0e01d159556f2de3683b5de6805203bf57544 We've all done this. Half-way through a build, need more money to finish, forgot to click back on your mech you were grinding cbills on. Wanted to try a new build, forgot to put on armor, forgot to put on ammo, put on SSRM ammo instead of SRM ammo, left ammo for a gun you've taken off or CASE with an XL engine...what are your stories? Here's mine (untamedzer0 can testify that this story is true) : I was leveling my COM-2D, while saving up for my STK-3F. Bought the base chassis, had the engine, lasers, and SRMs in stock, needed to save up more money to upgrade to DHS and buy the extra heat sinks. So I put on the engine and the medium lasers, didn't bother to up my armor, and readied up for drop. Oops, forgot to select my 2D...ran with a 53 ton stalker that has less heat efficiency than most large laser boats.
It's all true, and it was all hilarious. One of those blunders in MWO history that we have all had at one point or another. But....didn't thins thing actually manage to steal a kill?
I've dropped into a match before with AC/2 and SRM6 ammo somehow lost (I forgot to put it back on god damn it). I ran around in my Centurion A with my 2 medium lasers going PEW MUTHATRUCKA, PEW PEW!!!!
I remember in closed Beta when these things used to happen all of the time. Weapon load outs changing from one match to the next; or better yet when your 'mech would revert to a build from three days ago. Thank goodness it's all our own fault these days.
Back in closed beta, I upgraded from 2 AC5s to 2 UAC5s... but forgot to upgrade the ammo. Nothing quite like lugging around an 18ton paperweight in your hunch.
Yeah I was more looking for PEBCAK errors and not bugs, Myth Untamed, if I killed anyone in was myself via overheating...after doing 48 damage...
I think I've done this more than once. Going max tonnage and having AMS with no ammo. And then is the nice LRM boat incident when I upgraded to Artemis. And as this was pure LRM boat, had no self-defense weapons, excluding the AMS ... with 2 tons of ammo. That was fun.
I think most of the errors stem from a lack of ammo for upgraded systems. We concentrate so much on shoehorning in the best weapon we can and sometimes forget to chance ammo over. Take for example Friday. I was changing an SRM over to an LRM for testing purposes. I drop into a match and guess what? I'm still running with SRM ammo for an LRM launcher. I was so concerned about leaving the SRM ammo so that I wouldn't run short for weight that I forgot to change it out once I had done the other tweaks.
I had a rather big and embarasing oopse today. It was the first match of the day, and I dropped on Tormuline Conquest. after about a few minutes spent capping the side point then moving to flank the enemy in my Jenner D, I get to the battle and line up a shot. When I noticed what usually are green beams turned out to be huge jets of flame, I and had to resort to my SSRMs for damage. Turns out I forgot to switch over from the flamers to the MLs after I did some heat testing in the training grounds last night. Needless to say, my death was swift and what ever lingering respect I had for flamers went up in the puffs of smoke bleeding from the remains my wrecked mech.
