This is my take on the classic 3D jumpsniper after the changes to the Gauss Rifle. The timing of firing a GR while jumping is doable, but using an AC10 is much more simple, especially when in the heat of a battle. As with the old, but then super-efficient 3 PPC build this loadout provides 30 pinpoint damage repeatedly and is very capable of grinding down heavies and assaults in a few aimed punches. As the AC10 comes with quite some weight this build naturally isn't as effective and flexible as the old version, but we do have to adapt to the game changes, don't we? The main build presented is focused on cooling efficiency and a relatively high speed, but different versions of this can be made quickly. Pick the one you like most. ER PPC Variant Simply replace the PPCs with the ER variants. Cooling efficiency will be 32%, which might be OKish for some of you, but I myself don't like it. Jumping higher! Swapping a DHS for another jump jet is also a possibilty for adapting the build to one's playstyle. One should be sufficient, though. As you might have noticed by now I do like cool running builds. Reducing the AC 10 ammo is another possibility for sure. Standard Variant Cool running STD variant AMS Variants -> XL 280 & AMS -> XL325 & AMS -> STD 260 & AMS
God dammit I have to actually play this game apparently more than 2 hours a week, what with you guys posting all the builds I've been wanting (lazily) to make showcases of. This particular combo I've played for a while now but I just don't have footage. Then again this is XL so it's a tourny version of what I have in the shop. Nice mech
That does look like a good build. I loved playing with the old PPC + gauss build. As a jump snipe build, would it be better to have the AC in the torso too?
This would be reasonable as well, especially considering much easier aiming as well as weapon convergence to a degree. Your build would probably better for coordinated play where you can make sure 1) you don't have to reposition a lot and 2) you probably are a designated sniper without much worries about lights / mediums harassing you. My second point is the main reason I like the AC10 in the arm.
dual ppc + ac/10 in the shoulder. everything in shoulder. this allows for proper poptarting in 3d, it's the best setup for it. if it's in the arm it's best to use 2 ac/5s........... see where i'm goin w/ that?
Of course. What I meant that it makes sense to mount the AC in the arm for a tad more short-range defense when PUGing.
... if it's in the arm it's best to use 2 ac/5s........... see where i'm goin w/ that?
Sure.
I'm still on a MWO sabbatical, but don't think I haven't been tinkering in the mech lab still a bit: Such as... this old (but still currently min/max'd and meta'd) dual PPC + AC/10 STD build I never showcased on this site: Monster poptart sniper build that can soak like a boss
I finally got around to playing this build (325XL version) last night after being busy with phoenix mechs for the last month. It's the most fun I've had in a mech for a while. I love the speed and firepower. The 3D is the perfect platform for this loadout. In one game it was myself and another mech vs 5 other mechs, I killed them all!
I've been using this slight variation since quite some time now. The 275 gives sufficient speed for such a mech. The second JJ served me well, allthough it also could be another DHS.
Runs a little hot compared to the 2x AC10 build, but both are highly successful builds in my opinion. Sort of depends on personal preference as they flying brawler with 30 points of damage pinpoint is pretty awesome.
I won't deny that the extra survivability from having a standard engine is really, really nice. However, running this build on hot maps is somewhat problematic. On neutral or cold maps there's no issue at all, but even chain firing the PPCs you build heat up FAST. I swap between the 2xAC10 and the 2xPPC versions based on my team comp and if I think I will need to sustain a brawl for longer.
