Since I don't know how many matches I've actually played in the last year I've decided to do 100 during the coming days. All of my friends have abandoned MWO so I'll probably be pugging most of the time. I decided to create a thread to chronicle my journey. Let's see if I get tired of the game again or if the desire for a free mech will sustain me in my quest. Wish me luck.
Nice idea. I am looking forward to reading the stories of your adventures. Feel free to add me in game when you're tired of doing the solo stuff. Edit: European player here, so playing times can differ.
Not off to a great start. First match loaded me in 3rd person and I've forgotten how to change it. Derp around for a bit before deciding to fuck it and do my best. Then game crashed when I hit R to target someone. Whoooo... time to tweek some shit and start again.
We've had a stats reset this year. You could check your statistics page on the web to get a rough idea how much you played lately.
Ok so I got back into that match just in time to see that my team was winning 11 to 0 and was capping the enemy base. I feel like such a scumbag. Ok, now to change settings and get shit worked out before joining another match. And holy crap is it taking a long time to "connect" to the hanger after the match.
He he interested to hear how it goes. If you need groups quite a few of us were on the UMAD comms last night and we won almost all the matches (there was that 12 man that dumped us down hard....). Always fun learning to play with a completely new set of people. Sadly my unit is dead or I'd offer our services but happy to drop in Euro times if needed (or wider times this weekend). PS: Not directly volunteering UMAD's services its just they always seem helpful, professional and happy to see people on their comms. Aka bug Falconium.
Yeah the more mechs you have the longer any of the mechbay interactions seem to take..... wait till you pass 200.
Maybe try to skill out a new Mech, as it will give you some small targets to achieve during your most noble quest which shall one day be known as Magnificent's Big Grind...
After a rocky start in one of my old favorites (Griffin 1N) I decided to jump into an easy mode mech... Nova Prime. With 12 ER Medium Lasers there isn't much thinking involved. Just stay cool and shoot. 3 kills 422 damage in Conquest. Not a great game by any stretch of the imagination but a start. Much better than the 167 damage Griffin game that I'd rather not talk about... I am a hell of a lot rustier than I was expecting.
I checked my stats. Since the last time they wiped stats (a year ago I presume?) I had around 15 matches logged. So yeah. I think a few barnacles have grown over the rust deposits. On the bright side my K/D is skyrocketing because I'm not dying. Heh.
100 matches are peanuts. I ran a statistic on the last challenge. Because I wanted to see how much effort I needed to invest in achieving the goals. I had over 80+ matches in just two days. So making the 100 in 7 days should be no problem at all. btw: if anybody wants to join for some fun games in a euro friendly timezone (although I bet this weekend some of us will be on for a long, long time) you are welcome to join the Black Watches TS3-Comms anytime (mwo.chickenkiller.com, no PW required). We have a playerbase of over 50 pilots and have almost at least 8-20 ppl online every evening. cheers.
Oh yeah. I understand. But from the perspective of someone who quit because the game got boring and has played less than 20 matches in a year... 100 seems like a lot. I've only done 8 so far and I'm already feeling kind of meh. But I shall persist! Currently my W/L is dead even... not that I've done much to assist my team. Maybe I should dust off my Jenner. It was my first mech and I'm sure I've clocked the most hours into that chassis.
Dusting off my Jenner was a good idea. Nothing like seeing that Coconut Monkey's head thrash around. Played 11 back to back matches. 6 wins, 5 losses. The last match I was top damage in my Jenner. Sounds good but it was only 199 damage. Half my team had double digits.
[member=39]Magnificent Bastard[/member] I think, since you have very few matches until now, the MM might put you together with all the Noobs. Best Chances to score 1K+ in Chain, dude!!!
Yeah, I assume since the stat wipe I am probably in noob-zone. Which is probably a good thing. If I had to play against people at the level I was at when I quit... whooo boy. There would be a lot of people pissed off at my poor play right now. In 11 matches I think I've only capped 400 damage once. Although I've been bringing brawlers and most of the matches I've played have been long range standoffs. So I've been doing a lot of standing around waiting for action.
ELO was not reset during the stats reset. You can also view both archived and current stats at mwomercs.com/profile/stats
