From: MWO Front page Link to image Breaking HPG News Network News - NGNG Cattra Kell Reporting Late Tuesday night an update of the front page of MWO mercs site revealed that the next hero mech will be the "Heavy Metal" highlander battlemech. The battlemech of course being Rhonda Snord's custom highlander variant. From the image it looks to be armed with 1 Gauss, 1 LRM10, 1 SRM6, and 3 medium lasers concluding that at least 1 Ballistic in the right arm, 3 mediums in the left arm, and 2 Missile slots on the right torso. This is interesting because no word of when the highlander will actually be released - yet with the "coming soon to a mechlab" on the hero mech we can conclude that this means that the next actual mech will be the highlander. This also is a very interesting situation because this will be the first hero mech hypothetically released before the actual mech. Following the recent past two months of releases, we can assume that the Hero Highlander will be available on April 2nd, 3050 at an estimated cost of 6750 MC (75 MC / ton @ 90 tons) while the regular highlander - if it is coming out in April at all - will be seen April 16th 3050 with possibly a new map, again assuming we still are getting a new map each month. Interesting times we are in my fellow Spheroids. This has been NGNG Cattra Kell signing off. >Transmission end...
While I won't be piloting this large pink behemoth I can certainly appreciate it, from a distance, under full cover.
Should also note that perhaps this will be the patch we can re-color hero mechs since it was suppose to be last patch.
Yes, I will blind my enemies with my Hot Pink armor. They will be dazzled by my White and Black Zebra stripes. This is psychological warfare at its greatest.
I will be rocking this thing from the night it comes out constantly. I've always loved Highlanders and jump jetting assaults in general. I'm looking at you Victor... I'll get some builds up as soon as I can get some tests in. You'll probably see a variant of assault jump sniping, but I'm thinking I want more of a jump brawling assassin. Depends on how the hard points are and other factors.
I just hope that this comes in the same patch as cockpit shake while jump jetting. I poptart snipe on one of my Trebuchets, but I still agree that poptarting should be a close-range tactic and not usable at long range unless you're extremely good. That said, this could be the first Assault to make it over some terrain barriers, that would upset a lot of retreat tactics. Wait...are we really getting the Hero before the stock?
Donut: It isn't pink! It's bright red. Grif: Yeah and there's a word for that. Donut: What? Grif: Pink. If any of you watched Red vs Blue you know what I am quoting.
Of course! Do you doubt it would be any other way? Everyone wants th Highlander so in order for people to get it they have to spend MC which maens money for PGI... Later on down the road (2 weeks later) they will release the CBill version for the rest of those who didn't want to give them real money. Just makes business sense.
I'm actually surprised they have yet to do this earlier, it makes excellent business sense and would probably increase sales.
I generally wait for the devs to work out the kinks in new chassis (like the gigantic head hitbox on the Awesome in CB). Heavy Metal, in all of its "pink glory" will also have to wait.
Pink?? Damn you God, I'm a light pilot and you tempt me with a beautiful assault I would never used otherwise! At least it's not purple, I would not have been able to resist.
