Why not a 280 XL? Same weight as 275, but slightly faster. With that slight change, you have what I'll be doing on my 3D.
The change has been made (shrugs) I had a 275 spare in my inventory and since a 280 only gives a 1kph difference, and zero heat sink changes, I didn't feel like spending 4m+ for it.
I used to use Soy Sauce build but because PPCs seem to have problems with hitting anything I like to mix it up with a little gauss love because at least I know those hit. Mostly. They mostly hit! Anyways, this is what I have been using for the last week or so.
I built this because it seemed a shame not to slap a fast engine and JJs in the only phract that can hold em. I have played several matches with this and it is a beast against slower heavies and assaults. Use JJs to get over and behind enemies that are slow to turn. 35 alpha in the back and move behind em when they try and turn on you. It runs pretty cool as long as you use the gauss when you get a little warm. This build is very strong in River City Nights, picking away at anything that enters the water or jumping buildings harassing slow movers. I have speed tweak.
Alabaster, your mech was merged with the Grimm Tart as it is essentially the same build with just some tweaking (adding AMS etc).
Cool Beans, the added speed more than makes up for the fragile nature of running an XL, on most maps, this thing is wicked fun.
This is probably my fav build/mech atm. The only change to Michael's build I did was strip 1 ton of armor off the left arm and added another ton of Gauss ammo. Great build!! Bellow are a few scores from yesterday. Love this build!
You don't find it hot with the ERPPCs and heat increases now? Your hit detection must be great as well to pull that damage regularly.
Definitely runs hot. As the mech heats up, I fall back on only Gauss fire or just a single ERPPC till I can cool down. But I find that even when alpha striking into a shutdown, this build dissipates heat rather quickly. Here is the weapons grouping I use:
Your hit detection must be great as well to pull that damage regularly.
Thanks! This is actually by far the mech/build I play the best in. My CTF-3D stats are much better than my overall stats.... hear: Thankya mucho for sharing this build!
I see this build quite often when doing 12 man drops with my unit. It's still very good, especially when there are several snipers on your team, but for PUGing it's a tad too warm for my taste.
Anyone using an XL version of this power build in real 12 man drops might just be a psycho! With a death wish!
Yeah I have to agree. This was a build I put together in mmmmmm February or March I think? Since switching to the STD engine, and regular PPC, I've found myself killing far more enemies because I can take more punishment as well as dish it out with reduced heat from regular PPCs. Yes,
I used to run normal PPCs, on this mech and my Highlander jumpsnipers, but now prefer the ERPPCs, hands down. Normal PPCs really sacrifice overall damage in a match because I like engaging targets past 500+ range. My avg match dmg, kills, and survivability went way up when I started only using ERs. My instant DPS might not be as good with the ERs compared to normal PPCs, but I can engage targets much earlier and most likely during more time throughout the match...making the total dmg high. And I only play in pugs...otherwise, yeah, I can see this def being a hot 'glass' cannon-tart, against coordinated/good players.
