Ok so I am a founder but i havent played the game at all until the last week. This means I have a huge garrage but I know nothing. I played every single previous titles on the computer and I still own the orginal miniatures from the clan release. I know the lore but that dosnt work so well in this game from what i see.

So with that being said I can read the item description in the mech bay but how they really function in game is a bit beyond my keen as of yet.

So what is the differance in an ER laser vs a pulse laser? A Pulse laser fires a burst of beams but does each beam do the full damage or part of it? The ER large has a beam but does it do part of the damage or full damage when the beam touches? Is full damage

What is the differance in an ultra ac and a normal ac? I know the ultra fires a burst of shells is each shell full damage or part of the damage?

I know the LBX fires a shotgun blast so ten damage but in ten seperate one damage hits across the target right?

    Ok next questions

What is the real affect of having a command console on your mech?

I know the clan probe and BEAP are the same but exactly what do they do?

Each pulse beam does part of the damage, but pulse lasers (in general) will do more damage for more heat, but over a shorter time - this also has a range cost, so they will not hit from as far away. This means it can potentially be easier to do pinpoint damage. That said, Medium PLs and Small PLs are generally considered better than Large PLs, which don't hold up anywhere near as well vs. LLas/ERLLas.

Unless you're talking the Clan versions, neither is burst fire. Generally, UACs will have a faster rate of fire, but can jam if you try to fire them too quickly. Normal ACs shoot slower, but cannot jam.

More or less got it, yeah. LBX does a ton of damage, but anything past point blank and you will see damage spread.

Command Console/Clan Targeting Computers increase the accuracy of your beam and projectile weapons, as having some other static effects, such as increasing how much you can zoom in, the max range of your weapons, and so on. http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/160509-targeting-computers-and-command-console/

As for BAP/Probe, they extend the range at which your sensors will detect an enemy, and they will also detect and mark shut down mechs. At close range, they can counter ECM, however if a second ECM mech is nearby, the combination of the two will avoid them being cancelled out.

Well, as I was typing out a massive explanation, Durandal beat me to it. And it's better, so I'll just say Good Luck and welcome!

If you have any more questions, just post them, and I'm sure someone will be here to help :)

Thanks and it was the clan ultra ac that confused me. I am grinding a set of dire wolves and atlas mechs atm going to work on timberwolves and adders next most likely. It was funny to log into a garrage of 30 mechs and know nothing but Iansane drug me over here from tanks when he found out i had an unused acount.

Well take your time, and NEVER EVER sell ANYTHING.

The other thing, before you pilot a mech, please put DHS (Double Heat Sink) on it, No exceptions. Generally any build that uses SHS would be shit, you need DHS. Yes, it is 1.5 mill, but well worthit. Oh, endosteel is good too most of the time, depending on mech. FF armor though, not as good, and msot likely you do not need it unless lights and some special builds. Always use Endo first, and FF later if you still have slots. ALWAYS.
Suggest you start with your timberwolf. So many things to try. So many good builds. And tons of different playstyles.

I have all three Dire Wolves Elite same for the Timber Wolves. The Atlas group is the one I am tinkering with atm.

I really enjoy the Dire Wolf A with 3 ER LL, LRM 15 and 20 with A, and a Gaus Rifle. Also a Dire Wolf Prime with 2 Gaus and 4 ER LL.

As for Atlas I have Endo Steel on all 3 and DHS. All of them are short ranged brawlers.
DC runs ECM, BAP, Commander Console 3 SRM 6, 4 ML, and Two ACs cant remember if it is twin UAC5 or twin LBX10s. both my founder Atlas and Boars head are similar in concept and all 3 have std engines 350s on the BH amd F. the DC has a slightly smaller one maybe a 315 or somthing it tops out around 51.

As for the Timberwolf I have two I like. A Prime with 4 ERLL and a TC or an S model with 4 Streak SRM6 and 4 ER ML.

I seem to do ok with all the mechs I listed here I atleast contribute consitantly in these builds.

Another tidbit you might've picked up on these very forums.
XL engines weigh a lot less, but takes up more slots and if you loose 3 slots taken up by the engine (side torso) it's bye-bye.
I.E. that's why you go for torso on hunchbacks with ac20s, take out the bfg - take out the mech.

You are WRONG WRONG WRONG! :)
Hunchback with AC20 with NEVER NEVER EVER have XL. It will not fit. :)

You take out the AC20 cause after that the best the hunchback have is 1-2 ML, which has a much lessen threat value.

A typical sample AC20 hunchback build, available on multiple variants:
