Just wondering with all of the mecha games that have come out through the decades, (1) what do most people enjoy most about them, (2) what would they like to never see again, (3) and what would they like to see that they never have? 1. The thing I've loved most about mecha games is the customization. I love being able to walk around in a titan in a row of five other titans, and not one of us is the same. 2. Personally, I HATED the fact that in Steel Battalion if you didn't eject from your mecha in time the game deleted your save file so you had to start all over. 3. I know a few games have tried to make this happen, but I feel nobody has pulled it off successfully, but I'd love to see a game where you (the pilot) can get in and out of the mecha in real-time. Maybe be able to take your mecha into hiding (on the battlefield) get out and do some repairs and then get back in.
G-Nome wasn't a great game, but if I remember right, you could actually leave your mech, and steal another. MWLL had repair bays at your base, but you were able to leave your mech in battle armor.
I'm assuming he means that you're not just an open target running around the field and that you have some sort of armor/defense.
wow. 1- weapon management in general - especially when hitting someone it's not as simple as point-and-shoot(for example Hawken, which has insanely agile mechs(but which i suck at for lagging too much), or in an unrelated sense, battlefield series guns fighter combat). my favorite mech so far was a dual long tom poptart in mw4mercs hear:. my favorite game mechanic was how torso-mounted weapons were fixed to a non-stabilized torso in AT1:BT(which is now nearly impossible to find). 2- mecha games where almost all the weapons take at most 2 seconds to reload.(examples: Hawken, Dark Horizons games). they look way too much like a FPS with movement constraints. 3- good enough land-based mech kinetics. doesn't include only melee combat, but also controlling a mech in a way you can take advantage of its legs and arms. not only sidestepping, but also crouching or leaning a mech to a point where you can take shots from cover, aiming with a sideways profile to cover torso areas at the expense of firepower(MWO was promising in that aspect, but arm range is absolutely awful(especially on larger mechs) and you can't look at what your arms are aiming at anymore since the trackir patch) or prevent a knockdown by moving in such a way to restore balance to a mech. also, most games i've seen simply don't convey the sense of scale of a mech adequately enough(IMO closest one so far was MWLL.)
No, but...
in Battle Armor ?
Yes, if you were a clanner you would leave your mech as an elemental I.S. would be in the equivalent.
MWLL was completely community based mod for crysis. It is available as an all in one download now I believe with no need for the crysis game any more. There are some diehards that still play. obviously, it's not perfect, b.ut they did get a lot right
Would you happen to have a link for that...? It's been so long since I've played it and I'm feeling nostalgic... hear:
If I was at home yes, but unfortunately I am at work on my phone. I'll see if I can find it when I get home
Is it still supported? I thought they stopped when MWO was announced/released due to a conflict of interest or something like that. I played long ago (I bought Crysis Warhead purely for Mechwarrior Living Legends) and may have to jump back in with some friends for old time's sake! I also think it supported the Steel Battalion controller, so I may have some fun reinstalling all the required stuff to make that work.
No, they stopped when PGI wanted them to pull the plug, but the game still works in its final rev, and there are still servers up last time I checked. Played with a few guys last time I was on... MWO got me rusty, but it was still fun. Would have liked to see them finish. I know it wasn't perfect, but the scale of it, the feel of it was definitely mechwarrior
Yea, I agree! I may have to play a few rounds when I want a break from leveling Dragons. I'm surprised a few servers are still up!
