I was getting tired of seeing all the no skill obvious Streak Adder builds. Yes, it does sound a bit OP putting 20 streaks on a light, but the recharge is too slow and it's not usable inside ECM. Once this bad boy comes to you you are dead, and I laugh at the face of the Ravens and Spiders! Real pro's hit lights with regular SRMs. If it's something heavier, he's even in bigger trouble. You just have to wait for the right moment when he's busy with other things. Oh, it's just an Adder. Boom! Wait, what just happened?! Get on my level! This was done without any basics on solo drop, had better games after that. Streaks?? LOL.
You get a bit more ammo and alpha opportunities by dropping to srm4's, but I prefer having the timing the same (srm4 3 sec cooldown and then srm6 4 sec cooldown). Debatable if you want the 4's or 6's in the arm (more mobility in the arms, but higher mount and maybe slightly more survivability for your bigger weapon in the side torso). I'd personally opt for the arms carrying the 6's, but I can see it either way.
Hello, and thanks for the replies! To answer, I was doing fine with ammo in about 30-40 games I played with this. It was just about right. I think I only ran out 2 or 3 times at the end of the game, but at that time everyone severely crippled anyway. And 700 SRM do a lot of damage. That meaning, if you used all of them in a brawl, it's very likely that the game is in it's final stage, most of them were partially stripped of armor before you entered the battle anyway. The ammo actually feels just right, if the mech is used in it's ideal situation and you patiently wait for a good opportunity to mix in the brawl; unnoticed, you will be doing severe damage in the process. Mechs will drop fast. Now about the 4's and 6's. There are several beneficial reasons for putting the 4's in the arms instead of the torsos. Arms have the least armor and get often blown out first, so you don't want your primary weapons fitted there. If you lose the arms, you can still deliever a punch with 12srm instead of 8. Another thing is timing. You could go all 4's if you want more ammo, but as I said ammo was just about right. A little more alpha is good, your objective as a team is to kill mechs, not just damage them, and sometimes you need just a bit more damage to finish it off. How does this connect to timing? Primarily, you only use the arms to shoot most targets. It's easier to aim, and you don't have to expose your front torso for it. Also, faster recharge, in case you miss and less wasted ammo per shot. Makes the arm mounted weapons more spammable. That is why you have the big guns on your torso. You only fire those when it's a sure shot, mostly slow or not moving mechs. And even on alpha strikes, you will still have different recharges on both of them, giving you ability to naturally cycle between both of the weapons. Chain fire is used in rare situations, that would be when you're not focused by any enemies and can afford to keep continously firing on one target as a supression/support fire as a form of covering your allies with the suppresion. But in general, what this does is mix in the brawl, since you are small, you deliever the punches to their faces when running around them, or a general splat sneak attack around the corners, can do it faster than your regular catapult would be, with same ammount of firepower. But with less armor and more speed, it's played a little differently. You can be less sneaky, and certainly less noticable in bigger fights (a classic spat cat is a big target with it's ears in a brawl), so I would say this chassis offers quite an advantage over the catapult, which I don't see much benefit in anymore. If you can pull this on a slow light, it can make hell of a fun playing it. But as said initially, it is not your ideal build for all situations since it's a knife fighter only, and n maps like Alpine Peaks you will have to do some creative (and patient) thinking and probably need some luck as well. But in general, I think it's worth it, it's one of the most fun builds I played (nice adrenaline rush when you charge in the fights carrying this firepower).
