Hello, I have discovered these last weeks the CDA-3M with 2 PPC, and I just can stop playing it. With the arrival of the clans and the almost complete disappearence of light mechs, it is just more easy to play this small bug as scout and support. I even manage to reach 800 damage and 4 kills, which is a real performance for me. And you, what is your current favorite mech and build?
Too much entropy at the moment with figuring out the best clan loadouts. Pre-clan invasion I thought I truly mastered the 2D2 lighthunter: Sadly it is dead with the 20% nerf to streak damage. Combined with higher alphas, you just can't reasonably expect to get the brawl time required to pull off 600 average damage in it anymore (100% pugging). At one point I ran it for 3 straight 1000 damage games. Including a 1500 club:
A similar thread was opened last November. But there were some significant changes since, and for example I don't play the triple AC/2 Dragon anymore (poor AC/2). With the SRM fix it makes no mystery my favourite ride is now the Oxide: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=123&l=44baa5dce0be136134bb64aa3e4b99c3e1ac83fe I also drop a lot in Blackjacks, either AC/20+MGs Arrow or LB10X+MPLas BJ-1. And, more surprisingly for such an old-school build, I often drop in a 9 MLas HBK-4P.
I've always been partial to a 2xAC5, 4-6xMlas setup. you can be almost surgical with it, use it to supress, good range... better before they nerfed the AC's, but oh well. It's been my staple loadout for a long time on every heavy that can carry it.... Let me Modify: This is my all time favorite. Not the greatest I know, but I have a lot of fun with it, and always find myself going back to it. The Doctorhttp://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=19&l=6803e602355964aa06422357de409d2740529842
Boomjack. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=77&l=5daab166fec196eb5fe6cc2de502421cbce1c8f6 Fits like a damn glove for me. Archived stats on top of the current stats. I find it interesting that I've already done 8k more damage in 48 fewer games since the stat reset, averaging 459dmg per game vs 359dmg. A number of tther mechs have higher KD (Victors, Ember, etc) but none of them hit quite like this one does. Never thought I'd like the mech to begin with and was just toying around with a new chassis. I imagine when 3/3/3/3 goes live (...lol) it will be even more effective, though with less damage on average and possibly higher kills.
Definitely has to be my Flak Cannon Shadowhawk. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=110&l=df991d0feba1608b2b27f22054ba8bd61f0488bf This thing absolutely destroys. Been using it since I took the wrapping off my Shadowhawk and haven't looked back. Even stronger now with the SRM fix.
If we are just talking sheer fun factor my Death's Knell with max engine and 4 MLas. It's the sports car of mechs, super fast, maneuverable, decent firepower, and just all around a joy to run with. BFG's toting good shots are it's bane, like a silver cross on Dracula kind of bane.
Favorite has to be the Banshee-3E with epikt's Fat Grizzly build (2 xAC5, 2x AC2, 4x ML, STD325) After the AC rate-of-fire changes it has become a little less fun, but not by much http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=144&l=e4d98b1bd40df9a045b6feda8eb14a9494ccf2ae
In the previous thread, it was the Ilya Muromets with 3xAC5 + 2x LLas. Now it's, well, the BNC-3E with 3x AC5 + 2x LLas, STD325.
The Super Chicken is also my runner up. If it went 171kph and did not have legs that get fried like they are on sale at KFC it would be numero uno.
It is fun as there is 3 light, 3 med, 2 heavy (almost), 2 assault listed above. (and I can add my own med) With the clans arrival and the global feedback (on MWO forum at least) that light and med are no more used, I am quite happy to see that fun can be found with every mech classes.
High effective Poptard builds or Mega Dakka Builds are fun to run and perfect for the competitive gameplay. That`s clear. But for me the favorite builds are not the ones with Easy Aim well at high distance and press fire to win Gameplay. I have mastered first the Lurmageddon Gameplay in my MWO career, most of my 1K+ Matches in the past were from those kind of builds. Fucking boring imo. You don`t give your enemies any real chances if your team is working on things like that - Poptard + Lurmageddon Heavy Teams. It's like playing 5x Jinx or Caitlyn in LOL. But in LOL fortunately that works completely different, the ADCs have high range and burst damage, but they r very fragile and need the Tanks to absorb the damage. In MWO you can have both high range Burstdamage and still be very tanky. Playing a Meta-Poptard build with a Heavy/Assault is like playing a very tanky Caitlyn. Definitely no fun to fight against. Fun for Caitlyn maybe. For me the favorite loadouts atm are the silly SRM Splash builds. They r not competitive, because they lack in any real Range Firepower. But from a Fun Perspective they r awesome fun, especially now after the recent SRM Buffs. Still it`s a double edged sword - very challenging because it`s most times smash or get smashed. Don`t let me get near you silly Meta-Pop(re)tards or Lurmageddon Stalkers, or I'll smash you into a thousand pieces! hoarhoar
I can't pick one favorite, but my 6MLas Jr7-F or the traditional 4-4 Ember both still get played most by me. My Cicadas were also the first things I mastered, and the 3M with 2 PPCs is still one of my favorite mechs to pilot. Even with all the clan mechs hitting, I still prefer my Jenner over everything out there, and do far better in it than most other mechs.
Currently like to run around in my grand dragoon dragon with 2xllas 1xppc and xl360. Just a quick smurfy put together: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=11&l=d1c83023bffcebf270b6c4db6d871584286c7383
Oooh, there are so many to choose from, I just can't pick! Well, I guess if I had to select just one 'Mech and build that I'd hold onto longer than all others, it'd probably be my LRM+LL Stalker-5M. I've always loved Stalkers with arm-mounted LLasers, and I've also always loved LRMs; the combination of both on this build really makes for an exceptionally fun playstyle. Sort of an EZ-mode, sit-back-and-rain-the-pain-on-them-while-sipping-a-soda, kind of 'Mech. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=46&l=279a576fe74886a3164ac548024238ffd7983b45
Favourites take longer than a couple of weeks to develop I've spent 90% of my time in clan mechs since invasion, but I am not ready to call any of them a favourite yet.
