What is YOUR best game?

Just did an Ac5/uac5 4 man. many lawls were had.

 

The tournament is over, finally, and I was out of town this last weekend. I finally got to playing again last night. I played for a couple of hours, did a lot of knocking the dust off of my skills and remembering how to properly drive my babies.

 

I guess I could post some stories here along with screenshots..... [REDACTED].,... lol but when I get home I guess I'll give it a shot

 

These were my top 3 tournament rounds, notice which map they all took place on (only 1 had an AFK to strip, you figure out which one) -

 

Nice rounds Soy. I don't think I've ever 'stripped' an AFK or DC. I ussually just head shot them for the bigger salvage bonus. Then again I stopped opting in to the tournaments as of this last tournament. Good games none the less!

 

The tourney was actually really fun. Me banana, revan, n soy would be sitting in general chat just bullshitting and next thing you know, BAM! Amazing round. That was followed with lot of trash talking and taunting. Ooo.I gotta get home n bring up the SS of some good rounds I had. PS o yea hearing each other whining and moaning was also very entertaining. I Just needed one more kill dammit!

 

During the tourny......... I had 2 games out of probably 500 where I was last guy alive and other team had an AFK to strip. I know for a fact some people had 3 or 4 or even 5 rounds like that applicable to their 20 rounds for weekly score.

If you do the math it's like, probably an extra 25 tournament points on the end of a round [1 kill and 200 odd damage], those 2 AFK strips alone probably helped boost my score from probably 3,950 to 4,000. To me that was the difference between getting 6th place and getting 9th or 10th. But then again the guys below me almost certainly had a round or two like this themselves, so... when everyone around you was getting lucky at least once it felt nice when it finally happened for me.

All I know is when I had my 2 AFKs to strip, they were on day 6 and day 7 of the tourny, and both times it was like the heavens opened up from above and a beam of light shined down on that AFK... oh man what a glorious feeling when you've just finished the last 4 guys off, all alone, and get close to their base and see some poor bastard in a Jager or something... gives you that feeling that maybe, just maybe, the MWO gods are looking out for you. Or at least, not just looking out for everyone else. ^^

As far as stripping outside the tourny, I've done it a few times, but I think everyone has done that before, it certainly didn't start in tourny and definitely won't end any time soon.

The other round I had with my 2nd afk strip, I don't have a pic of it, but that round got me 4-4 and 900 damage instead of 3-5 and probably 700 dmg, so....... was probably one of the lower rounds used in my top 20 rounds but nevertheless, every bit helped. I remember a couple times I'd have a great round and my weekly would only move by 1... ugh...

 

It would be nice if the tournament didn't reward people for how good they are at taking out AFK players...

Not an attack on you (because, as you said, everone high scoring has done this), but the tournament is more a high-score scavenger hunt than a tournament. Your pictures highlight what I've said about lights (especially Spiders) a lot - getting a lot of damage is dependent on your team NOT doing said damage. In this case, you were the last one of either one or two left standing. I've never had a 600+ damage round on my Spider when my full group is alive. And, as Fuzzy pointed out, taking the AFK apart piece-by-piece might be nice from a personal-score standpoint (and yes, I've done this to do big numbers on my RVN-2X), but from a team perspective it is better to take out the enemy via headshot or legging. Doing this is faster (if you're the last ones, everyone appreciates this, and if you're not, it gets you back to the main battle quicker) and it gives your team more C-Bills. Thus, tactics that would be good for winning the match are bad for winning the tournament.

 

skribs it should be painfully obvious that the tournament was really a way for PGI to stress test MM/ELO variables (think 'great players soloing vs prems' scenarios over and over), to then mine all that data from the outcomes, and start thinking of some tweaks or changes to the systems.

it's probably bigger than that but this was pretty obvious to me by end of the tournament. it's almost sadistic, but then again you can't **** the willing (those of us tryharding/opted in).

i could care less how the tournament operates, if i go for it, i'm 100% committed to playing my best and don't give a damn what anyone else is doing or how they're doing it, but that's just me. bring on the 1 v 1s, the team, the marathon, whatever, if i'm participating i will try my hardest to be the best i can be.

 

Well if you are as good as you say you are, ELO must be broken, because I dropped with you last night.

Also, I began laughing maniacally after killing the STK, then slaughtered the AS7 and danced with a AC/20 JM6 for the wining kill 1v1

 

Playing lot of solos, I noticed a pattern, no matter if I win or loose. My kdr is 6.5 made me drop in this pattern. 1 out of 6 is high elo game. 2 out of 6 are medium. 3 games out of 6 would be med to low elo match. Just what I saw throughout the tourney. Its not that elo is completely broken. Its just that there are far more low to med elo players then people with high elo

 

How do you know the ELO of these players?

 

I got over 11,000 kills on my stats, by then you just recognize names and their skill level

 

my best round. ever. I have gotten higher dmg but not 8 kills. I was just dropping with setax and other few guys and it just happened lol

Back before the LRM tweak I would take the STK-5M with the LRM70 out for some nice strolls, those were some pretty hellacious scores...

So after this weekends sale on the The X-5 I decided to buy one and promptly had my best game in terms of XP.

The loadout was using that posted by YaoYaoYiffy 3 x ML 2 x SSRM2 BAP and TAG.

Map is River City Assault and the numbers are with a non-premium account.

Picture quality is poor I am afraid as it was taken by my camera phone.

 

Isnt it nice, now that we dont lose all of our fucking c-bills to repair and re-arm?

 

Best game? Been playing a while but it's got to be this one.
