Surprised to not see the most obvious build here, so i'll post it for you :)

The arms of the griffin act as massive shields. This mech is designed to loose its left arm, all the weapons are on the right side.

For weapon groups i suggest something like this:

    1: 3x Mlas
    2: 3x SRM6 in chainfire
    3: 3x SRM6 in groupfire

Ammo placement. Ignore the way canon mechs are built.
Having ammo in the body and legs are better than having it in the arms and ST where they are going to rip you apart in ammo explosions.

That is an interesting point and an interesting discussion.

There is no ammo on the left side of the mech (arm, torso and leg) because you want to take hits there first. Since you need 6 slots for ammo it becomes a bit of a jig saw puzzle.

This was my train of thought:

Where do you put 6 slots of ammo?
OK, one in the head, leaves 5

My rule of thumb is: no ammo in the CT. A lot of people aim for that and it is the hardest to protect with twisting. That is also why you always to put the JJ there first for crit padding.

Not in the left arm, that is the shield.
Not in the left leg, that one gets blown off first.

That leaves right arm and right torso. Then, do you fill up the arm slots or the torso slots first?

In my experience that arm goes before the torso on this mech. The head ammo will be empty at that point and you'll need the ammo even more without lasers. (There is little point in having 18 srm's with no ammo)

    So i picked the torso.

I could move one from the arm to the right leg and move one JJ to another torso... (i doubt this will have any noticeable effect, not painting my mechs pink, orange and purple might help me more XD)

I put it in the CT cause if you get a crit it is going to the engine anyways (still dead), though if you have JJ you can crit pad it so it is good.

Right now the ammo in your arm is sued LAST which means when your arm gets blown off there is ammo explosion that would hurt your ST.
You can try move one DHS to your weapon arm though in that case. Also you can put it on your LT.
