Been playing with this build for a while now. It is insanely effective as a jump sniper, while still retaining the ability to hurt thing up close. You should be pop-tarting with this build as much as possible during the first half of the game, then push with your team to get within SRM range. Deal as much damage as possible with the PPCs at range. It might be a little boring (as pop-tarts usually are IMO) but the longer you can stay away from your opponent, the better this build works. It's extremely difficult to counter-snipe this build if you are behind cover. The insanely high mounted PPCs gives your opponent a very small target, so return fire is minimal. You can often secure firing lane all by yourself with the right cover. This is a very strong characteristic for a medium mech. It allows your heavies and assaults to concentrate on another flank, push, or capitalize on an enemy mistake.

    Fantastic support platform at range.

Run with Radar Deprivation and Shock Absorption modules. Last slot should be a Cool Shot 9x9 or Target Info Gathering.

    ORIGINAL BUILD:

    POST JUMP JET CHANGES:

You could downgrade an SRM4 to an SRM2 to accomplish the same effect. It also has a higher DPS because the SRM2 has a faster rate of fire. The sustained DPS is actually better as well once they are both mastered. Not much of a difference, it will come down to personal preference.

Considering that pop-tarting with the PPCs is the primary action of the build, perhaps it might be wise to downgrade all the SRMs to SRM2s and add another DHS

If you want to keep the heavy punch of the SRM4s, you can simply downgrade to an XL280. Little bit of speed loss and takes away from your sustained poptart sniping, but you will hit very hard up close. Good damage potential.

Lastly, you could ditch the SRMs completely, remove Endo steel, and downgrade the engine to an XL 280. Now you can run max 19 DHS and max Jump Jets.

Hug hills like a master in potentially the best medium poptart in the game!

Streamlined it slightly for personal taste.

    Great concept. Another minor variation.

IMO the 2 heat sinks in my original build are crucial. The PPCs are your main weapon and you only fall back on the SRMs if you are required to make a push or to defend yourself. You want to keep those PPCs jump sniping as often as possible.

This build put me into the 1000+ thread.

Last build needs at least 1 ERPPC (can mount 2 in most maps too, 49% efficiency when mastered) !

I'd be closer to advising a few SSRM2 racks than the ERPPC.

Interesting thought, although it is only 1/2 the firing time as 2x PPC. Meaning you cannot continue shooting it as long, which is the point of maxing the DHS to begin with, which leads me to:

To do so would require dropping at least 1 DHS and a couple jump jets. Not that i'm against it, but that's what the other builds are for. SSRMs require BAP to be effective, now we're talking about an entirely different build.

The last build in the OP is meant to remain at range, and continue hopping dishing out 20 pt alphas again, and again, and again. Similar to a dual PPC Cicada, but using JJ and cover instead of ECM.... and much more heat efficient.

Certainly worth trying a PPCxERPPC or dual ERPPC combo though, just to see how hot it can be, but my early predictions is that it can't sustain it's rate of fire enough to be extremely effective. the PPCxERPPC might work... will see.

Edit: confirmed, PPC+ERPPC is too hot to deal effective damage in a game with constant fire. At least that was my experience after several matches. 2 ERPPC would be much worse.

    Excellent Build,
    I run mine with 2x PPC 2x srm6 1x srm4 XL265 2x JJ (lost 1 JJ for more armor).
Very effictive in current meta, where start game is either stand off at range or a rush.
In both game types it can perform very well.

    greetings

Not elite on Shadow Hawk yet, but with this I am doing 300 - 500 damage and 1-3 kills each match. 3 seems to be the number I get on kills more than anything.
highest damage so far was over 700, which ain't bad for a medium!

    I agree with El Maestro:
SRM are wrecking face right now.

This mech is all about hit-n-run. Piloting this one is a real challenge, because you need to keep distance between 90 and 300 m. Again, heat is an issue, especially on hot maps, however quirks help to keep it cool fairly well.

I'll be giving this build some more love now.
    SHD-2K is getting:
    • PPC velocity 10%
    • Missile cooldown 7.5%
Should put the PPCs closer to where they used to be before the initial velocity reduction.

    5/5,
Running this build now exclusively.. Lightning and shotgun, what a beautiful combo.. it's fast too and pretty cool!

My version has 3 SRM4 and an XL295, 3t of ammo. It shows 30% EFF which looks pretty hot on paper but it really isn't. I rarely shoot both the PPCs and the SRms at the same time
