Good for the environment, a build that you would normally find on the TDR-9SE with jumpjets and a lot of heatsinks/more speed. This on equips some extra tools so your friends can help you take down priority targets. Of course its effectiveness is heavily dependant on your team comp and I only really recommend running this in a lance of world saviors with at least one missile boat. Don't spend narc too much, make sure only one target is narced and then focus him down before it runs out, you don't have more than 1 shot per mech. Other variant ditches Machine guns to get a PPC to counter even more ECM: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=155&l=79b1a6c74681767f283b066d62d672107e4fe28b you can also try swapping the TAG and a Large Laser positions on any variant to have the tag a bit higher up! Control Groups: If you have a 'switch' for TAG by making a macro: 1: MG 2: LLas 3: MLas 4: NARC You can probably also make a similar macro for MG. I don't have that macro and have found the following solutions: - Add TAG to every weapongroup Have this set up: 1: MG 2: TAG 3: ML 4: LL 5: NARC Narc is only used once every 30 sec (don't want to give your team multiple targets to focus), LL is used more from range so gives you more time to reach weapon group 4. MG and TAG both have to be pressed down for maximum effectiveness thus occupy the mouse slots and 3 is an easy to reach key for your standard brawling lasers. If it's too hard to manage, try out the version without MGs: 1: ML 2: TAG 3: PPC/LL 4: NARC
I like it! I'm toying around with similar builds right now myself. I definitely think that NARC works well on this mech as it generates no heat so you can really bring the pain with your other weapons. Plus, what sort of brawler doesn't want missile support focusing down a mech it's working on? On a side note, after playing MWO for quite a while I find it interesting to look at mechs with NARC on them and not immediately think it's terrible!
A modified version of your build, less supportive, more speed, more direct fire. Shaved a bit of armor off the arms and legs. Has the advantage of 2 heat sinks in the core as well. 82.2kph with speed tweak.
Not quite a 'variation of my build' then is it? The purpose isn't alpha, the purpose is getting a bit less direct combat power exchanging it for combat intelligence. This intelligence then turns into 30 tons worth of LRMs raining down on your brawling opponent. Your build is already posted on the forums and is admittedly better at fighting for himself.
I really like this build. The revamped narc is really useful, and I love builds that take advantage of it. Here is my slightly tweaked version, dropping to a lower engine to upgrade the LL to PPCs, and swapping the TAG for another ML.
@Gangnail, Good question, since it's such a varied weapon loadout, I've now included my set-up in the original post.
Thanks! This mech is pretty versatile, been running this loadout for a few days now and I really enjoy it. I run the variant with the ppc so in the long range pop tart battles I can still plink off some shots while making my way to mid range
