So there is another Thunderbolt after-all? Did I miss something ? Anyway, that's great for all those who like the mech. For the others, well, it's a free mechbay
I am very much excited about this! I was on the fence in deciding whether or not to grab a Thunderbolt, and now, I get a free one to play with! At the very least, it's a free mechbay, but if not, well, it gives me something to play around in/grind with. Don't know what it is about the Thunderbolt, but even when they were described (in the novels) as having overheating problems, I still wanted to play around with it! Also, it gives the people who haven't played in a while a chance to come back!
I happen to like TBolts (apart from a certain Laserboat) so im happy about this. Still, some new map.. or CW.. Cant say i dont like this "Free Stuff", But i wonder what drives them to do it... too few players?
I'm pretty certain that few players has something to do with it. A lot of professional players or long-time players are burned out and have no content. 1 new mech to master is hardly time well spent for them though the 'free stuff + mechbay' is very attractive. Maybe they're going down hard in players maybe they're really promotions so that everyone will be present for the release of CW. Time will tell.
Hmm the hardpoints of this variant are awesome so i definitly going to grab this baby. Love free stuff as the cheap bastard i'm. As for the reason for this event maybe PGI tries to give players something to do while they are waiting for CW and are just maybe a bit uncreative by making it always the same kind of event (x wins or xx matches). Damn lately i'm realy sounding like a white knigth, but that that pessimistic flow in regards to everything pgi does realy starts to kill the mood.
At least it's an incentive for players to get started with the Thunderbolt line. Hero Mech in the making, perhaps?
Yeah, I'm wondering the same. First the Cent, now a T-Bolt within very short time. Add the rather heavy sale promotions. Does feel like they are trying to promote and/or recapture players. We'll see.
I'm hoping it's less "We are losing players, and we desperately need them back" and more "We have a secret CW coming soon, and want lots of people to enjoy it". Of course, I'm one of the guys who waited for Duke Nukem Forever (For a very long time), bought the Balls of Steel edition, and kinda regrets it. Even if I still have my Duke Nukem Bust sitting next to my Steel Battalion Controller...
I've no interest in a Fartbolt but the mech bay that comes with it would look good filled with a Cicada 3M.
I was looking for a new chassis to work on anyway, so this worked out good for me, I bought 2 of the others in preparation of the freebie. So far they are pretty meh.
The SE is the only one I've really taken a liking to. However, for most chassis, there is only one variant that I'm overly fond of and for TDRs, the SE is quite a rock star.
