A quick try at utilizing as many slots as possible. Hotter than heck, and ammo light for the AMS, but its just a quicky. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=155&l=ae10eea1eba42f1f151e50a87dae05900224e7e4 An here is one that (again) runs pretty hot, but uses every slot on the mech. I am assuming that the RT laser mounts are identical to the 5SS. Note: I am using the XL 315 engine instead of the XL 300for one reason: I ran out of slots with the 300 and still had 2 tons left. Darn, I get some extra speed and .5 tons less armor. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=155&l=e477b7b40a2883c5d614bae278e8737904bd3d85
Since TDRs are so durable, I prefer to get a standard engine when I can. I find single missile launchers not all that useful, though someone might want to mount a single srm4 and put another heatsink in the engine. I just think that NARC is the only 'missile launcher' that does well on its own and if you have some allies with missiles (and they're capable) it gives you the support of much more than 3 tons of firepower. Brawlier TDR with narc and dual AMS. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=155&l=85abb06a31daabf8e24a3e1ebea56c2bfbc063a6
I kinda want to do this: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=155&l=73833f495890af961632c373337371c2fb355ee5 Only thing I can't quite decide on is putting the big lasers on the same torso or splitting them like this.
put them in the same torso. in the right torso they're assured to be mounted high, while the left torso has low hardpoints they might swap around to (some weird bug with purchase date of weapons). Besides, it gives better convergence and when you lose your LT you have enough damage in the RT and the other way around, putting one ERLL in the left heavily favors your left side.
Just got my TDR-9S. Is it just me or does it handle like a brick? The mech's max pitch seems to be much lower than other variants.
I think it says that it does on Smurfy, but for someone like me, who doesn't own a Thunderbolt, I didn't notice anything wrong! I actually enjoy it very much, as it seems to be able to take a beating. Now I just need to figure out what to do with it. One thing of note that bothers me a bit is how it has a leftover .3 tons unfilled. Just bugs me a little.
Wasn't paying attention and accidentally posted my spec in the TDR-5S forum . Here's the link. TDR-9S (ERPPC, AC5, 2xMPLs, STD260) http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=6367.msg41588#new
http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=155&l=19b3b04cb06c9e64a18ec01100cab55b0d51909e I had the engine from my wolverine mastering left over so I stuffed it in and took advantage of the sexy sexy shoulder energy hardpoints for PPC sniping and used MPL, MG and DHS to round it out. (EDIT: A XL280 has the same weight and is a better choice in this instance.) http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=155&l=2e704111f5b4dc7509da36ff7c036711d3a2cd1b This is what I am running now. The SPL and 2 MG's are surprisingly effective close in.
In game and on the boards, I've seen a lot of 9S builds with 6 MLasers. I don't get it. It seems like a waist of a build. Other mechs like the Quickdraw or Catapult or even the Hunchback do it better. It seems to be a waist of those two high energy hardpoints. The mech itself is good, and you can load up the left side (opposite of a highlander) with weapons and use the right as your shield side. Or you can use the two high mounts for LLasers or PPC and make it a pretty good long range sniper build. One of the best even, since these two energy hardpoints are almost the same height as you cockpit, so no other portion of the mech will stick out from cover. Anyways, just my confusion on why people are putting so many MLasers on this build, when it's really good for other things.
Well, this variant have too many great hardpoints and too little tonnage! Basically you will have to give up some of them to make a decent build. If youa re decking out on the AMS and the Dakka then you can't deck out on the enrgy, hence the 6x MLas, I guess. On the other hand you can focus on the high mount energy point and make a kickass sniper thing.
