Wanna talk about the new Phoenix Mechs released? Do so here. In case you don't know what we are talking about? http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=6299
No thunderbolt? When I heard 6 mechs, I assumed one each of the Phoenix + Sabre, not 2 for 3/4 Phoenix's. I'll need some time to see how these differ from the other variants in terms of applicable, real-world loadouts. And why would they even bother to release 2 more locusts?
yeah I'm pretty disappointed about there being no TDR variants SHD-5K seems like a decently survivable griffin/wolverine, not a big fan on most of the rest variants though.
Same feeling, why no Thunderbolt, Griffin and Wolverine? Anyway, no ballistic heavy mech, no buy (and that's good, I'm saving for a Blackhawk).
EDIT: Welp, I just assumed this was the griffin/wolverine public release... i'll add my thought of these new mech after I review... review EDIT: Meh, they offer some new options, but nothing too interesting. My favorite is actually the 6 Energy Locust 1E The 1M looks pretty good as well.
I don't see anything ground-breaking or chassis-changing. - The BLR-3M looks like it would be a fun energy boat (2xLLas, 6xMLas, STD350, 22 DHS. Or squeeze in an LB10X, dropping heat efficiency and speed). Its a more mobile BNC-3S in my eyes. - The SHD-2D is another good mix of hardpoints for a shadowhawk so you can do lots with it, very similar to the 2D2 or 5M though. - No ECM or jumping locust, so no point in playing that chassis still (unless your name is Solahma ) As a note-to-self: The SHD-2D might be a side-grade for the 'Shadow Dragon' build. Currently I enjoy where the hardpoints are, but having all the weaponry on the left side will allow me to expose less of my mech and use the right side to properly block. However, I currently block and shoot with my right side at the same time, which puts my LLas at risk, but keeps my torso gauss safe while not being completely punchless or needing to feel trigger-happy.
So we're getting - A worse BLR-1G 1 less ballistic for 1 more energy and the same terrible, restricted movement. This thing's going to melt itself. Who thought this was a good idea? A BLR-1S that drops two launchers for two lasers. ( I don't see a single redeeming feature for either of these. ) A better armed LCT-1M less 1 AMS / micro Jenner sans Jump. Kinda 'Meh', but workable. A straight upgrade for the LCT-3S. A SHD-2H that swaps the ballistics and energy load-out and adds a dramatic mobility buff. This thing is going to be brutal. A PPC sniper hunch-4P replacement with jump jets, missiles and better mobility.
are us pheonix people gonna get these for free? or are we going to have to buy them. they look pretty cool
LCT-1M seems sweet. Thinking about XL180 with 2xSSRM(2 tons ammo) and 2x MLas, DHS LCT-1E seems to be a good upgrade also. Asking for a LX190 with 6xMLas and DHS. SHD-2D/SHD-2K gives us a choice of energy variant, now Shadowhawk is even better! SHD-2D is great with the hardpoints. This can rival my beloved 2D2. SHD-2K is 3/3 of energy/missile with shield arms. not sure about this. BLR-3M seems ok I guess, trading one arm Ballistic for one arm Energy. BLR-3S is Mah, nothing special here. As a Phoenix owner, probably pick up the locust, and SHD-2D. Not too interested in the BLR.
No ECM Locust, no jump Locust, no ECM Griffin.. Pretty useless for Phoenix users, who probably have 3 Mechs of each kind in various states of mastry.. ok. the SHD-2K seems interesting.. the rest, well... meh.
the only one that I might take a look at picking up is the SHD-2K. Triple SRM 4 with Artemis and Triple Mediums and a Standard engine could make a fun brawling Shadowhawk, it should play like a fun jumpy Cent and could be good with the incoming SRM 4 speed bump. And I could see this being a Triple PPC poptart. The others all look pretty average. I can't believe they didn't give one of the locusts ecm, at least one of them would be playable. Especially with LRMs still being played a ton I'm only playing Lights with ECM.
exactly what I was thinking. Been running a 3xSRM6+A and 3xMLas griffin for a couple weeks now. This shadow hawk will basically be that.
At least currently, SRM4 without Artemis spread like SRM6s with Artemis. An SRM4 with Artemis is still grouped together better than without, but you don't notice as much of an improvement. It might be more effective after the SRM tweaks coming out, assuming you'll know where to aim those tightly grouped SRM4s. With current hit registration, you don't want SRMs to be TOO grouped together or else you'll notice that they either: All hit and do massive damage or Most miss and do very little damage. So it is in your best interest to still have a small spread to improve your chances of hitting. As mentioned, hopefully this changes and SRM impacts become easier to predict.
I think artemis is totally worth it on srm 4's, the spread is still significant enough that I want them as tightly packed together as possible. I was playing my SHD 2h2 with 4 non artemis SRM's since you can't fit it into the head slot, and I found it not nearly as effective as the Champion Cent with the Artemis versions.
I prefer +A on SRM6, but not on SRM4. The spread on SRM4 allows for partial hits, which is extremely important due to the crappy HSR lagshield system causing SRM not not register correctly. You rather have a more spread out damage than a total miss.
Today's 4/15 patch made server explosions the authority (should help aiming SRMs, but isn't a direct fix) SRM2 and SRM 4 also got a small cooldown buff. SRM4s now fire faster than before Hopefully this makes them more attractive to through into every nook and cranny they will fit
