I know a friend who runs a build almost identical to this one (he was jealous of my Chunker so he built around his Founders). With that in mind I know it's solid. Not sure how I feel about the Endo though, if it's just for the AMS's weight it's probably not worth it. Some medium pulses or dual large pulses on the other hand...

5t gained from Endo Steel, if you got room very hard not to take it to bring in heavier firepower

I ran a build like this for a while. Works great under 100m. Give you a chance to leg lights too.

This is my favorite AD7-D build.

Focus is on the 2 SRM6 packs and the 2 LBX-10's

This is a BRAWLER... you need to be RIGHT UP in someone's face (or back) the range is abysmal.

But lol when you do get within range... one shot will send them running for momma.... you pack an ungodly amount of facemelting goodness... it's basically an improvised "splatcat".

The advantage is... most people expect the atlas to NOT be a splat cat... they usually have many long range weaps that require precision aiming... so they will often close in on you thinking your LRM's etc will be useless unless they pay attention to the target info gathering details.

The lights also think they get to run circles around you...

Both sets of people are wrong... you fire a blast right ahead of a light... it's going to take damage... some of it will be to the legs. It's hard to miss with a cone that big. Anyone who tries to chest bump you will sorely regret it... if they live long enough to have regrets... probably not.

The shake you deliver on your enemy also can not be ignored... they KNOW they are in trouble.

The weakness is the randomized maps... you can't be in wide open turf... if the enemy gets a bead on you there is nothing you can fire at someone at ranged to even make them consider picking a new target or hiding. Some maps will make you absolutely groan when you see it start to load up.

You know, actually you can use those SRM6s and MLs/MPLs on a HBK-4SP chassis as well. Less armored, but more mobile and cheaper...

Anyway, just my 2 C-Bills on the subject. Your build looks mighty. Now let's go wreck stuff \m/

I call this shotgun because it just puts out allot of small dmg peices. 2 LBX10s have a bit increased crit chance....Then you have 2 SRM6 for some more shotgun effect with good damage and then the 4 Medium lasers for 20 dmg witch can be fired at the same time or chain fire with the LBX when you get hot (Witch should not be often if you have the 2x coolrun bonus :D

Just like the idea is all ...very close range but still lots of fun.

Instead of upgrading the engine from stock, I strapped a LLas to each arm. The cooling efficiency suffers, but it does give the 'mech some long-range stopping power.

Edit: I tried an alternative with a LPLas in the CT, but that just didn't work out nearly as well.

1xLPL instead of 2xML is a huge compromise for very little gain. It is technically better heat efficient if you don't have room for more DHS (but if you do have room, an extra DHS or two will make the 2x better) and its range is only slightly higher. I would only go with a LPL if I'm already at maximum number of energy slots used.

Both builds look pretty solid. I think I like Archwright's better, though, because while sustained DPS is a bit lower, the max DPS is about 2 higher.

I love artemis with 3 SRM 6's, but is the artemis worth the tonnage for just the 2?

    Minor changes...

1 less DHS, no Artemis, 1 SRM downgraded, 1 additional ton LBX ammo, BAP added.

Extra LBX ammo and downgrading an SRM6 to an SRM4 gives 30 salvos for all ammo weapons.
Addition of BAP helps neutralize ECM.
