Well, LRMs are certainly more prevalent aren't they? LOL

I think there's a lot of good here. The LRM/AMS update I feel is needed (as long as registry is accurate) The LRMs are a pain, but, they're supposed to be. They have their limitations, but, field artillery is a tactical piece of battle. Just hope it doesn't become LURMAGEDDON 2.0. When the hype dies down in a few days we'll see if they balanced it decently. NOPE! If these guys would have play tested for FIVE MINUTES they would have known what a huge mistake they were making.

The Locust fix is not, but, doesn't fix the mech! o_O

Turret rewards are quite welcomed in my mind since they are so pinpoint accurate when they fire at you!

However, as a gamer, I must always gripe! It's my DUTY! :D (so, here I go)

I wish there was a better solution to balance pop-tarts. Such as a weapons lockout extending 1 second after burnout of Jump Jets or severe heat penalties for weapons fired within xx seconds of Jump Jets.

To strike down the Victors so heavily with the nerf bat is pretty harsh. First the JJ nerf across all mechs (Which I thoroughly enjoy and endorse - great way to balance some issues) but, the speed and twist? Bummer.

HGNs have 10T extra for weaponry, more armor and the true ability to be a viable LRM platform. Victor's only real advantage was the agility for a large mech. They have small tube counts for Missiles, arm based Ballistics which are easily targeted. They still have great armament, but, the XL speed and agility of the Victor made the mech have a unique feel. I enjoyed that every mech didn't just feel like the same cut-and-dry model with different weapons glued on. It's heavier and slower than a CTF-3D or TDR-9SE, but, not as armored or "Tankable" as the rest of the assaults. Now, without the speed and agility, it's use is even MORE limited to jump-sniping. Really a shame to take away it's individuality because of cheese Pop-tarts.

As a heavy striker and flanker, the Victor was a great mech. Quick enough to get to the melee, but, not able to tank like a Stalker or Atlas. Heavy enough to carry plenty of weaponry, but, not so fast as to be able to jump in-and-out like Fracts, Thunderbolts and Quickdraws.

TLDR; I appreciate the JJ balance and the HGN nerf, but, I really do feel disappointed about taking away the unique feel and individuality of the Victor.

Gotta say, I actually approve of the extra nerfs to Victors and Highlanders, as the JJ nerf really didn't make much of a difference. Hopefully this new change will have some effect on the amount of pop-tarting meta going on, though I doubt we'll see much change.

And though I haven't tried them yet (still updating as I write this) I like the sound of the Zoom changes. Personally, I hardly ever leave my zoom at 2x, as I simply bump it all the way to 3x. Now, I should hopefully be able to do this with just a single click of the key, instead of having to double-click all the time.

Hence the added range to AMS systems. But yeah, LRMs got a big buff this time. :)

I'm guessing the LRM buff affects the LRM turrets. I really don't mind the energy turrets, but those damned LRM turrets target you from halfway across the map, and now it will be even more of a bitch to dodge.

Additionally, the biggest issue with the turret rewards is that it goes to whoever gets the killing blow. So I can sit there for a minute getting ripped apart as I tear down a turret, only to have someone else run in and take the kill leaving me with nothing. The rewards should be distributed between whoever did damage to the turret.

WHAT! LRMs needed to be Buffed? I call gogwash.

I think that Highlander and Victor Pop-Tarts are OP, and Over used in our Battletech Universe.
Those types of attacks where not used this much in cannon. because they should not work as well as they do in the game.
Jump Jets are for Moving over obsticals and DFA, not pop shooting.

But a -10% torso twist? really, I agree a heat penalty or better yet a lock when jumping would be a better solution. This will not slow down the Doiks....

I agree, the JJ changes and torso twist changes aren't going to be enough. They are also making changes that are too general. This will punish ALL Victor builds, not just the Meta. Why not address the problem more directly?

I personally believe in a solution that involves screen shake going up AND coming down while using JJ. It would be entirely dependent on the weight class as well. For example, an Assault would have severe screen shake, but a light would have very little screen shake (similar scaling for the most recent JJ changes). This would make meta build focus on lower weight mechs like the cataphract and shadowhawk. In turn this would also help matchmaking for the future 3/3/3/3 drops.

All these changes aren't impacting the actual problem, just dancing around it while punishing everyone for what the competitive crowd uses.

Speaking of which, statistics reset, but NO ELO change!? seriously? this (or at launch module) would be the PERFECT time to reset ELO and have it count ONLY for public drops. Hell, I would even go so far as to say only SOLO PUBLIC DROPS would count toward your ELO score, but that might be getting a little too ahead of myself. Think about it though, if ELO is also judged on private comp matches, you could have an entire team that absolutely WREKS another, and their ELO would sky-rocket. Then they jump into public matches with a buffed ELO that doesn't reflect their skill working with random people.

Honestly guy, this movement nerf is the opposite of what we need. Think about it. This makes the Victor LESS mobile. Now, I want to avoid close combat. I don't need to turn if I jump snipe. Now, the JJs don't give me maneuverability in close quarters (which, as I previously stated, I am totally in approval of) However, a Victor now was the turn speed of an Atlas... AN ATLAS!

Poptarts don't need to torso-twist, don't need movement speed and don't need JJ to turn!

Making the Victor less agile in the skirmisher/striker role pushes the Metabuild even FURTHER. Now, it's much easier for a Victor to poptart than it is to pseudo-brawl. I loved my 9B for the fact that I could move fast, distribute damage acrossed my mech easily and get in people's faces. Now, I can't even maneuver to brawl a Jager. The Agility was what MADE the Victor. I couldn't carry massive loadouts like an Atlas or HGN. I usually used an XL to get the advantage of agility in combat. Now, I'm a sitting duck moving like a mech 20T heavier with the armament only slightly better than a mech 15T lighter.

    Not happy.

You must not have tryed playing when you wrote this, as its a hell out there (at least all my matches)....

See this is what you get when the "lead game designer" don't know what "buff a little" is... We went from PoPtartâ„¢ meta to maximum range meta. Wihel the LRM's could have used a SMALL buff they did not need i anyway what they got. The AMS buff was taken out completely by the LRM buff so it makes it kinda moot (and they still shoot out from caves and tunnels?!) LRM's should be as they are intended to be a support weapon that can pin down the enemy nor core them out in 5 seconds and you get obliterated by 6 LRM stalkers, that now have a UAV, narc and tag on you. Not that they need all that but thats whats happening. I don't mind the UAV, the NARC or TAG but i do mind when i cant do anything cos im in a hailstorm from hell of LRM's and there is nothing not ECM or AMS that can hold t of for long. A SMALL speed increase yes but not this...

I don't know, did QA just skip this one or did the dev team just not bother to listen to the QA team. I feel that would they have at all actually listened to what the majority of the community is asking for they would have looked into FIXing the SRM's as that would be a nice and good counter to poptarting (i'm talking about brawlers that actually are effective and not piss poor meat shields.)

Everything else was kinda ok, i liked the smurfy type view that was added, and i hope they will work it so that some point i can actually use it to tweak and build my mech.
The Highlander and victor nerfs were imo ok, as it makes them less able to spread damage and so can be perhaps taken out a bit easier. Its not enough to kill poptrating but its a small step.

I don't know was the server side hit stuff included now, if not i hope it will be soon as that need to happen ASAP.

The only thing i WANT badly is for them to shut of team collison. Its gotten worse (for me in this new patch) its gotten so bad that if someone touches me i sometimes warp all over the map.., and its staring to really effect my ability to play as retards in assaults always seem to need to come stand behind me light... not walk past it as they push forward....

Loving the NARC and LRM changes so far. Had a few drops trying both and it was a lot of fun to coordinate. I'm sure a lot of people will be using LRMs over the next couple weeks so expect LURMAGEDON, but it will most likely die off a bit. Really enjoying more LRMs in the game instead of poptarts LOL

I can agree with Bolt that it might have been too much, but it's a much welcomed change of pace for me personally. We'll see how the choose to handle it in the long-term.

I realize that I am still fairly new, and don't have a fraction of the experience y'all do, but LRMs were a PITA already, a buff is going to make the game miserable. Well that is IMHO.

I played three matches earlier and I saw LURMageddon in the streets. Brawlers couldn't even get to a fight, even with dual AMS, because of the sheer volume of missiles. Stalkers with 4x LRM15s on chain fire were everywhere and poptarts are just as prevalent as they always were, in fact more so, because it is the only real way to counter LRM boats.

I love the smurfy aspect of things and really hope they allow you to customize your mech using that system eventually cause what they have? Very unintuitive.

I was having a lot of connection issues today though. Dunno if its the patch or the interwebs here in Canada?

Okay... I take back everything I said about LRMS... However, that may just be because EVERYONE it trying them out now and I'm hearing reports of players able to lock on without LoS, NARC or TAG. Just able to lock on thru terrain if in range. We'll see in a few days.

Edit: Nope. Just broken. Just super broken. I'll check back next week and see if my bad attitude can be quelled... We'll see. They really don't want people to play anymore.

Today, after the patch, was the first time I've ever said "Fuck MWO."

Until LURMAGEDDON 2.0 dies down, I don't see myself playing.

Hard to tell Chattahah because the person COULD be NARC'd and not know, there is no indicator other than getting pounded by missiles for 30 seconds. There is also UAV locking. I've been running around with my Raven 3L with NARC and a UAV, the LRM guys can't get enough of it!

Honestly I think it will die down and become more reasonable. It JUST got a buff so without a doubt there will be loads of people testing it out.

    I should elaborate my position:
I played a total of three games today. First was in my near bog-standard GRF-3M. Which was a decent match. Second and third games were in an FS9-S with dual AMS. First match was an Assault on Alpine peaks. My team was on Sigma. Looking at it, Gamma has an even larger advantage now. Not only do they start near the central high-ground, but they have turret cover on the rear portion. Second match was my QQ match. Forest Colony. LRM mechs + way too many turrets in far too small of an area = OMGWTFBBQ level of LRMs. My AMS pretty much didn't stop running.

Maybe I just suck? Maybe I'm right and this is ridiculous Lehrmage. I suspect that if I load up and play again, I'm sticking to Conquest.

I have to agree. There is no skill, and no fun in Lrmaggedon.

Yesterday i played my fresh Griffin for the first time, with LRM30 and yes, i admit it is now after the Patch even easier to grind with Missile Boats - i had most kills for the most of the rounds i played. I think they did this to make it an easier Start for Noobs.

Imo PGI should add some more Roleplay Restrictions to the game, not only Weight Restrictions. It's retarded to play with/against a team full of Missile Boats or Poptards. Let players config Mechs to different Roles (Assault, Brawler, Sniper, Scout, etc.) and ready them all up for Launch. If the round launches, you chose the Role you want to play and the System automatically selects the Mech you configured for the selected Role. How about that?

    E.g.

Every player has configured some Mechs due to the given Roles (with Weaponrestrictions due to the Role, e.g. only Sniperweapons on Snipers, only more than LRM20 in Missile Boats) and selects 1 Mech for each Role as ready for the Launch.

When launching you have a Screen where you see the Restrictions like Assault-Squad (4x Assaults), Brawler-Squad (4x Brawlers), Firesupport (2x Snipers, 2x Missile Boats), Scout-Squad (4x Scouts). You can chose one of the Squad/Role and the System choses the Mech you configured for that Role. If someone takes away that Role already, you have to chose another Role. With this given Roleplay Restrictions we get a more Balanced Teamsetup.

    What do you think?
