Ok, so I don't know if this is crazy, or insane, or maybe even slightly delusional . . . or whether it may, in fact, be a stroke of genius . . . but anyway: here it is. "You know that time you bought a STD 400 engine by accident, (instead of an XL400), and you refused to sell it because you're a hoarder and you don't get rid of anything that you might possibly be able to put to good use eventually . . . you remember that? OK, well, here's your chance." I honestly don't know whether this would be absolutely useless on the battlefield, or whether it would actually annoy the enemy enough to be useful . . .
Well, the STD400 is obviously complete garbage, but if said unlikely occurrence did happen, you could swap for 3 MPLS or maybe even 1 ERLL so you can atleast do SOMETHING outside of 100 m... 75 isn't exactly fast enough to use small lasers as your only weapons.
Oh, I know it! And for the record, I don't own a STD 400 . . . it was just a gag. But I honestly do wonder how effective a 'Mech of this size would be running at 75 kph (as fast as most heavies) with some half-decent firepower. For example, here's another variant with that STD 400:
Keeping the essence of a STD400 zombie. Don't take armor off arms, the massive arms are there to shield the torsos. Reducing the armor actually makes the mech more vulnerable.
