Main focus with this build would be constant AC5 fire and pepper in some large lasers if heat permits. Shouldn't have to worry about heat efficiency unless you're on the hotter maps.

Alternate build that replaces a heat sink with one extra ton of ammo. This build could be better with good discipline with heat management.

This is my favorite weapons loadout on the Ilya. Add in more heatsinks and armor, as well as higher placed ballistic slots (hopefully), and this very well could replace the Ilya as my go to mech.

It's a Muromets+! I'd wish it had one separate ballistic hardpoint to allow it to run 4x AC5. the CTF-4X has had the monopoly on that forever

I posted a Direct fire cheese adaptation here. (3 PPCs is too much but 2 is good to manage.)

I'd personally run the laser variant like Blagg's but with ERLL. You definitely need at least 8 tons of ammo for 3 AC5s in my experience.

My take on it, with more ammo, more DHS, smaller engine size, and a Medium Laser in the head --- seriously, it's got a STD engine: let's Zombie! ;)

With the AC5s obviously being the primary weapons for this build, you want to make sure you've got sufficient ammo to keep them rolling the entire match. Anything less than 210 rounds will never last long enough; 240 is preferred. But seriously, how about 300 rounds, for 1500 potential damage with the ballistics alone?! Go big or go home. ;)

Don't put an engine lower than 320 std in these Beasts. People who do not own them can not understand this. All of these 300 std builds are far too slow to do anything significant on the battlefield.

Yeah, similar to an Atlas, if you drop that engine too low, it doesn't matter what you bring to the battlefield because it won't get to the engagement in time.

In the vein of actual advice, consider a SLas in the low energy mount so you can get both LLas up high for poking. And if two of those three AC5s aren't high mounted, consider an MG to make it so.

Adjusted armor levels, you were missing 6 in the ct and had no where near enough protecting the legs.
Small laser to push the large lasers up top, this should increase overall dps because you can now hit more targets with the first one.
    Added AMS.

Thinned armor on arms a bit to sport an extra ton of ammo. Thusfar I've been quite satisfied with its overall performance.

I've managed really well in my Howling Banshee with a STD300 after speed-tweak it isn't as bad. Not that it is without drawbacks, I agree, but definitely not useless. It's one of those "know your place" on the battlefield type deals. If you are slow, plan way ahead or else you'll be screwed just from your positioning.

With LRMs and needing to duck-for-cover, I think the large engine size is needed more and more.

STD325 seems like a good compromise, 1 ton saved for another ton of AC5 ammo. I'll give this a try soon (also redistributed armor for personal preference)

After having finally faced one of these in combat, I can say that this is going to be one of the better builds for this variant. The 4 tons saved over the ppc build go a long way in making this one of the top builds for this mech.

    5/5 Fez.

Even though I lost, you can see how damaging this build can be.

This build is still working, even vs clan mechs. I would also precise once again, that BNC are effective with a large engine, which is at the minimum a STD 320.

I play mine with an ams and a std 320. Average game 300-700 dmg. Use your speed to flank if you can and shields your torso with your arms.

AMS version of dranozir's build which totally made sense. Yeah, just stick to the STD320 with AMS version people :)
