After doing the spreadsheet on optimal values, I actually see the 300 XL with this weapon setup as pretty potent.
So I am figuring it's time to explain the name. I am sure some people got it and I have explained it to a few. So here you are, Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear UK explains to his colleagues (and the rest of us) what a Honey Badger is and why it is so frightening. We are kind of like Top Gear - Battle Mech as a community, in a way. [video=youtube_share;Adkgoa1Eeug]
Here's a variant of this that I'm currently running. (BBCode), I mainly stick with the heavy hitters to help hide them while on the move. Once our forces are engaged I stick close but move around looking for enemy lights trying to flank our line. I like the Anti-Missile system to help keep those around me a little safer from long range missile boats and the BAP to help find targets for my teams LRMs. Once an enemy is close enough and I have a side or rear shot I engage with a few Alpha Strikes, 2 maybe 3, then I circle away out of sight, check the rear flank of our line again, and line up for another flanking strike. This is the second Cicada I'm working on skill-wise. I've only been playing since May 21 2013 but I've enjoyed this game immensely. My other Cicada is the -2A with 6ML. I'm not fond of ammo-based weapon systems but I wanted the ECM ability of the -3M.
ECM hides me and those near me from enemy radar and LRM lock-on from far away, an enemy mech has to get much closer to target for his team, giving us a chance to focus-fire on those that are close. In a scout-mech role, the BAP helps me locate targets faster and from further away, thus allowing my team to know there's an enemy there first of all. Secondly, allowing myself to get targeting data faster thereby knowing where to hit for maximum effect, (Speed is LIFE), it is only 20 points of damage at a time so I'd like to make it count. Am I understanding their functions incorrectly or do these two modules cancel each other out in some way?
Taken from the patch notes Just seems like having both is only like having 1.5 pieces of equipment instead of 2. If it works for you then rock on with your bad self!
Thank you for the information regarding the use of both modules together. Maybe these two items should have an in-game note in their description warning us about the effect of using both on the same mech.
I've been running the UAC5 version of this build for a long while now and I love it! What a nasty little mech! The amount of damage this lil' bugger can dish out is surprising. Especially if played with a little bit of tact and patience. For example, focusing on enemies already engaged is very recommended. A few examples of what this puppy can do: http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af35/Hordedog/CDA-3M.jpg[/img] I've actually broken the 600+ dmg barrier with this build once or twice, but failed to SS the occasion (blast you, bourbon!). My only knock would be the propensity of the UAC5 to jam. This happens enough that I'm very seriously considering swapping it out for a standard AC5, which would also net another ton of ammo, so I think I'm going to try that out. Great build, 5/5 stars!
