Nice! You'll have to let me know how you like it after a while. I'm using the Nostromo and liking it a lot, but I wish there was just one more row of keys... The G13 has A LOT more keys
Very ergonomic layout, plenty of available keys, profile hotkeys, the usual macro setup software, ect. I'm really liking it and it's making for a much more comfortable playing setup. (leaned back in my chair with a floating mouse shelf on one arm and keypad on the other) Once I get used to the D-Pad, that will open up even more keys (more than I actually need)
4 years and my G15 is still alive and kickin'.... It's indestructible... Though i've heard and read a lot of negative reviews and press about logitech quality getting worse... Can't say anything 'bout that, as my G15 works and i don't use logitech mice...
Bought a Logitech G105 yesterday, to compliment my 1 year old G600 mouse and bought the G430 Headset, too (yeah, got me a new computer). I'm satisfied so far.
I've been using the Razer Orbweaver for the last year or so. Bit expensive mind you, but I am a fan of the extra features it has. The extra row of keys over the Nostromo being the chief one.
I would really like some compactible app for my Logitech G13, i have seen many players of this game own it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZZHd_dgslw
That's the dude that kills me every time I die when I'm playing. Only someone that dedicated could best the Rooster. Question though, where's the ashtray so I could smoke a cigar while playing? All real mechwarriors smoke cigars while on a drop.
As I prefer a more descreet look on my desktop (I am really out of that "uberroxxorgamergear"-age  ) I bought myself a QPAD MK-80 with MX-Blue switches some time ago and I am very satiesfied with it. If you want extra macro-keys (which I dont need) youd be better off with the MK-85. Both are expensive but Ill expect mine to last 10+ years as the built quality realy feels good.
Sooooo... I'm planning to get a new keyboard because my spacebar is getting stuck all the time (and I should go mechanical, so this is a perfect opportunity). I would like your recommendations on a keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches, backlight and fairly budget price tag My desk is pretty small so compact/no macro keys is fine, I have my mouse anyway for more functionality. Separate volume control would be really handy So far I've looked at the CM QuickFire which seems alright and the rest of the keyboard use cherry black or red (I think a little feedback is nicer though black would be my second choice) or blue which i don't want due to the sound.
I'm using a Cherry MX 3000 (G80-3000 nowadays I think)... I líke the high hub and that u really have to press the keys. Oh - and u can spill a beer onto it - just dry the keyboard and it will work again.
Spilling beer onto it sounds like a very good point, There is a large possibility of that to happen, considering the frequency beer is present I've done some more research on my owwn and CM Storm's stuff is the only brown switch keyboard that's a bit in my pricerange. I've opted for the Trigger-Z in the end (macro keys and wrist rest are handy, and that for <€100!) I'll let you know how I like it.
I bought a G15, and have never used the macro functions on it and the LED display is largely worthless. After this one gets too old and dirty or breaks, I will go back to buying moderately priced easily replaceable normal keyboards. I would prefer to replace my keyboard every 3 to 6 months than to spend $150 or whatever on one and feel like I have to use it forever before getting another. I use my computer A LOT, and I eat and drink at my desk fairly often, so my keyboards get dirty and don't work as well over time, so yeah, I would prefer a new average keyboard regularly than a nice one that I have to keep for a couple or few years without feeling guilty.
This has been updated since this article, but it is what I use, and I have no beefs with it's performance. http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2011/10/you-can-spill-all-your-drinks-on-this-gaming-keyboard/
Once you go mechanical, younever go back. never. It's like comparing a Casio Music keyboard to a Bösendorfer Grand Piano. Brand doesn't matter, I recommend Cherry MX Blue (more tactile feedback, audible 'click') or Mx Brown (silent, subtle tactile feedback) key switches.
I use macros a lot (G15 board too) and the LCD aswell, primarily for Mumble/TS intel but many times as a timer (I do a lot of ingame timed stuff since I'm a server admin and need to find out respawns or measure distances or whatnot) or simply a watch. Or a media controller for Spotify etc. It's practical as hell.
