I feel like my collection of mechs is stable for the moment and now I am shopping for modules. I already got the zoom but after that what in your opinions are the best modules to buy or upgrade?
Depends on your playstyle. If you play a lot of conquest in light mechs, definitely go for a capture accelerator. If you're slow, you might want to try seismic sensor. Personally, I love Target info gathering, it's very handy to localize a wounded mech.

I'm not 100% on this, but I think I read the first round of the new weapon modules where going to show up with UI 2.0 in the next couple weeks. If thats the case it might be a good idea to save the cash until they show up to see if they end up being worth buying.

Yep, hold off till Feb 4. Blagg's link is good but one probably missing from it is the newish Improved Gyros. If you find yourself blinded by all the ACs and lrms, this will pretty significantly reduce the shake and allow you to more easily fire through it. It's pretty much my 2nd or 3rd module I always equip now outside of light mechs, esp in assaults. Since you're starting out, I'd go with these as the primary: lights - capture accelerator lrm boat - advanced target decay assault or heavy - adv seismic sensor ...second module is Target Info usually in all but lrmboats. The one time I did an XP to GXP conversion was when I was starting out and had to get a bunch of modules. It was worth it as it takes quite a while to get enough GXP through playing. A lot of people buy artillery and airstrike, but if saving cbills is more important to you for buying more mechs, I'd skip them as they cost cbills each time you use them. Also, in case you don't know, only buy 1 of a module and rotate them in the mechs you own. At least to start out since they're expensive.
The first module i bought was the seismic sensor because i had the feeling that i was runnig too often around the wrong corner facing severe troubles at the end of it. then I bought the advanced one because at that time i was saving money for mechs and didnt want to spend c-bills on more modules. Its really useful - saved my ass dozens of times - even on my Jenners. and it helped me 2 days ago to find that pesky "last-man-standing-ecm-spider" on a skirmish match. My second module was the adv zoom and right now im saving my GXP for the target info module. On 2 of my Jenners I'm having BAP and the infotime-decrease is just nice to have. So i'd say get seismic/target info.
I have spectated a few people using the seismic but I always assumed I would be moving to much to make use of it like you did, I might have to look into it now.
For LRM dependent, Advanced sensors and Target Decay. For streak dependent, Target decay again. For brawlers, target info gathering and advanced seismic. For ranged mechs, zoom and advanced sensors/seismic (to allow you more info or warning and maybe get away easier) For any non jumper, hill climb can be a good option. Being able to maneuver can be the difference between life or death, win or loose. Positioning is valuable, no matter which mech you run. For scouts, advanced sensors, cap accelerator and target info. Intel is key, quick intel is even better. Of course, there's talk about remaking a lot of these so who knows how long this is valid...
