Well well, Cockpit Glass Effects will come next year. What are your Wishes? Any? All of them? None? Tell us, what you want! Remember the good old MW3 days (incl. Cockpit FX!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GL9kvkPecik
I wasn't even sure what the command chair post meant by cockpit glass. I find frozen city annoying when there's that black 'smear' look; I can only imagine that threefold. The non-glass parts that take up 1/5 of my monitor is bad enough, I don't want more area taken away from seeing the terrain/enemy.
that cracks me up... Speaking of, MWLL did damaged glass great. You knew you were in trouble by when your glass started to go. Weather, like rain, would also be good. basically they should just copy MWLL, and all will be good.
Hopefully when your mech loses internal atmosphere, on a map like HPG, the pilot dies... Hahahahah CRITICAL HIT BITCHES!!!
Another excellent example of resources wasted on shit that just isn't important, currently. At some point down the line it'd be a fine addition to cap off the immersion but the fact that this was being worked on over anything else seems a bit...unnecessary, I suppose. And while I voted for the last option, as I/you obviously have zero say in the matter because PGI is just going to do whatever the hell they're going to do, light effects as raindrops and/or small cracks would be nice, I guess. This game can go die in a fire if it is going to be much more intrusive than that.
I rather what artists they have do cracked glass than more 'Hero Mechs'. Though probably not even the same guys that do either.
I stumbled onto the MWO forum this weekend while looking for a user.cfg way to remove cockpit glass... still working on that by combing through the Crysis 3 engine... don't know if I'm going to get anywhere. There is all sorts of brou·ha·ha over cockpit glass on the main forum, and I made the mistake of actually reading some of the posts. After reading just a few, I had to rest my head and sigh over the idiocy of it all.
I honestly thought that there would be a nice glass of tequila, or whiskey, or something nice and potent when I hear "Cockpit Glass". I was as just as pumped up to imagine a cup-holder. But alas... --Netherkat.
They would actually have to write code for that Blagg. Besides, that would be a step towards something dynamic, and realistic, and we just can't have that... Unless you re-load MW3... I did by the way. Realistically I think they just added cockpit glass as an easy drop in effect, thinking it would make it look like they were making progress in the game. Like we wouldn't notice the man behind the curtain. It seems to be the norm lately with anything they do, half ass, detrimental, smoke and mirrors. The blooming and flash effects are wrong, and with the dirt effect and green tinge on the glass, on some maps it looks like you are looking through a church window. I can't wait till they give us the option to turn it off... if that ever happens.
Have to admit, I rather like the glass effect. It needs some tweaks (per discussions in the regular forums) a big one being that apparently our cockpits aren't a closed box where lighting is concerned so light sources /behind/ your mech end up creating wall o' glare (tm) inside your cockpit. I honestly haven't encountered any instances where it's been especially bad but I suppose there's plenty of variables (eg. monitor calibration, hardware, individual pickiness...)
