This build is dedicated to Skyer Stralende Basically an upgrade to his SHD-Build but with some Backupweapons for close range encounters and extra Bullets, though less Speed but more armored. Credits to Aylek Blagg
This is essentially what I was recommending in several other threads about the VTR-9B as well. Compare the Grim Reaper by Kana_69 or Shilkor's DAKKA with a strange mixture of ACs. The range of those ACs means that speed isn't that necessary on this thing compared to mounting an AC20. The speed provided by the XL325 should be sufficient, and I'd also prefer the better cooling efficiency of that version. Additionally, I don't think the SRMs are absolutely necessary for such a build as double MLas already provide some nice backup. When removing those two one can even mount a STD engine. You could go with a 300 and mount an additional JJ and AMS or lose some armor and go for the stock 320. Again, speed isn't that important considering the range of the ACs.
Speed isn't that important but imo it's always good to reposition yourself quickly if your lance gets ganked by the enemy.
Of course. When reading my comment above it doesn't become clear that I consider your XL325 version to be one of the go-to builds for the 9B. There are still some tweaks or changes possible, like double AC2 + AC5, double SSRMs and BAP and so on, but the principle of a high-dps ballistic arm combined with some kind of backup remains the same. Fantastic build!
yepp, i can't disagree with you. Though i wish the Victor had higher Ballistic Hardpoints for better sniping. So this build doesn't make the SHD-Build obsolete. It's just for Lovers of this AC-Mix.
This combination of ACs is not only very well-suited for a suppression build, but it's viable for brawling as well. Try an infight with the Vedrfolnir SHD... this isn't fun at all. Circling opponents with this beasty VTR is a completely different story, though. It's funny how a similar or even identical combination of (main) weapons dictates the usability of a mech, isn't it?
I'd love to see a gameplay video on these builds. I have the other 3 victors, but this is the one thing I can't do because I don't have a 9B.
This is the variant I am currently testing. It's pretty evil, allthough one has to keep an eye on the heat.
Just had my first 1K damage game with a Victor in a variation on this build. Yes I know "pics or it didn't happen" I tried to screen cap, but came back all black for some reason. Stripped the ML and SRMs for one ERPPC. Gives you more ranged punch plus the "synergy" between AC/5s and PPCs is pretty sweet.
***build updated*** removed the Arms.Lasers, since they are rarely used. Just bumped up the Ammo.Count to Infinity. I think if you manage to stay alive through the whole match, you can try to break 1.5K Damagescore. GL!!!
Now THAT is an excellent build! LOVE the updated version, Blagg! Epic DPS, screen-shake and enough ammo that I don't have the need to choose shots, worrying that I may run out! GG! I'll be running this soon!
yeah tell me how it works for you. I tested it only for some few rounds, but was dragged to other stuffs then. Havent played it since then, because i need to master some newer mechs (Victors all mastered already since ages).. I think if SRM Hitdetection would work perfectly and we don`t have the often Lagshield, i think this Build really can score up to 2K Damage, if you can burn through the Ammo until the end of the game. We already have several dudes here breaking highscores. What we all need are some builds which have potential to even break 2K. That would be a new history entry at mechspecs.
