Because any build with two or more ballistic hardpoints needs at least one dakka build. "Sidearm" alt;
This is how Dakka is done, the other 3x AC2 thread is ridicu-lol. Maybe the reason everyone's calling the 3x AC2 build so hot is that they run it with a laser, too much engine, and no heat sinks. I'd strip the arm armor to fit even more DHS for the increased heat capacity for longer bursts of fire and cooling so you can do it again faster, like so: I'd love to take a ton of ammo and turn it into an MLas, but that'd mean investing another ton and a half to two tons armoring an arm.
I still prefer a bit more speed, also makes the torso more maneuverable. I remove 1 DHS and .5 armor on the legs (people try to take out your triple AC usually anyway cuz dat thing scary). That gives me 1.5 tons which is exactly enough for an upgrade to an XL280. Since I can put a DHS inside the engine now aswell, the heat loss is even less as I get back 0.6 heatsink for losing 1.4.
That is weird, why would DHS attached inside an engine not count towards the 'double heatsinks in engines have 2.0 efficiency'? Yet, I still prefer an XL280 over the XL255
This thread is intentionally separate from the 3x AC2 with laser backup thread. At least that's my assumption. http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=4152.0
TFun is right, it's a different build. Also different from the one with only a MLas as backup. Better post it in a separated thread.
This is the build some guys I know are running with that I wanna try out... I just tried this out and my first time running this mech resulted in...
I have been playing the same build with a bit less ammo, and XL 300 and one medium laser. Its a pretty great build.
Remind me why CASE is ineffective on a mech with XL engine? Couldn't a crit take out an ammo slot - whereas if it was CASE-ed the explosion could have been prevented?
It only prevents excess damage from ammo explosions that would normally carry over to the next component after the one it's equipped in is destroyed.
Watched a Premade of 3 players run with this build (appeared to be identical SH+3 AC2s) today (01/02/14) They kicked butt.
