One of my favorite builds for the DRG-5N. You have one LLas for Long Range Support, one LBX and two MGs to make some critical damage on wounded targets and for close range engagements you have some nice secondary Weapons. Even with 11 DHS it runs quite cool, if you fire in Weapongroups. Play it like a Skirmisher/Firesupporter - support the Brawlers and strike hard on larger enemies, before you disengage with your high Speed. testrun: Blagg
Nice build. I learned to love exactly this kind of ballistic arm on the BLR-1D as well. Some questions: - Why didn't you go with an ERLL? - Any reason you're using that XL320 instead of an XL325 by loosing that DHS allthewhile adding some armor to the legs? One can argue, though, that nobody goes for a Dragon's legs anyway... - Double ERLL (skipping that SRM6 like Vergere suggested) would be doable as well, greatly enhancing the mech's capabilities at long ranges. A Dragon can get focused on it's right arm, but usually people go for it's CT anyway, so I quite don't get your fear of loosing the left arm. Bad experience on your side? EDIT: Will give this a try this evening, but am also looking forward to testing the double ERLL version. Hopefully letting that 2x AC2 + UAC5 build go won't be that painful. Expect more or less detailed feedback soon.
Hi Aylek, you are suggesting something like this right? looks good also! To your questions: 1. ERLLas is an option, of course! I just didn't go for the ERLLas because 11 DHS is not much and sometimes if large Enemies come too close i tend to shoot everything away, and then you can get very hot but the cooling speed is not fast enough, so can happen, that you overheat in the middle of an aggressive brawl. So it's a personal choice to either have more Range or a bit better Cooling. I decided for the latter. 2. You are right, XL325 is possible, but trading 0.5t Armor for 1,5+ kph, don't know. Is also a personal reference. I think many players have the XL320 (from Cicada/Awesome), so can use that more common Engine. Usually i would go for the XL325 if i need to load in one more DHS, where i would not have Critslots left outside. But as said, if you like it a bit more faster, you can go for the XL325. 3. Two Reasons: a) yeah, bad experience with losing arms. Don't know why, 1/3 of my rounds with the dragons is going like that, 2/3 is by Core-Death. Whenever i lose any of my arms, i am glad to have that SRM-Launcher to have some extra Firepower for the last fight before dying. b) Double LLas with 11 DHS can run hot and need long time for Cooling down. With 13+DHS no problem, anytime Double LLas than LLas+SRM6. But I intended to have three Weapongroups to manage Heat with 11DHS - Long Range (Single LLas), Crit-Seeker (LBX+MGs), Backup-Defense (MLas+SRM6). If you can get better results with Double LLas at 11DHS, go for it!
I have an XL325, not an XL320. Should I put some more armor on, or downgrade the SRM, and add AMS. Decisions, decisions.
I went and looked this up after your comment on my build, here. So, I popped it onto my rig with the XL325. I LOVE IT. SO. Thanks! EDIT: After a while, I think people have realized legs can be clipped easily or something. So. I'm trying this and liking it... Speedy. Full Armour. And you can basically just keep firing at close range targets with everything you have for about as long as you could want. I just have not been that big of a fan of SRMs, to be honest. Thoughts? I'm still trying to figure out how I should be balancing things out.
