Mine will have ELLas, one less heat sink, 2 tons of AMS ammo. and armor tweaked a bit. If I find that 2 tons of AMS ammo is to much I'll ditch it for the extra heat sink. Now to decide if I want to just straight up buy this one or wait till it goes on sale.
this would be my first loadout to try (only I'd move the AMS Ammo to the leg - pults have a systemic issue of exploding cockpits, no reason to make it worse; and drop 1 DHS for +1ton AMS ammo).
Finished building the ER Large version of this last night. Had a good run with it. Going to play more with it tonight but I think I can safely say I like it a lot.
I've played several matches in this mech now and I can safely say it is my favorite mech in my mechbay. I love the reach of the ER LLs, the XL 350 is perfect, and it runs cool. I'm a pretty mediocre mechwarrior but even in my hands it shines.
Yup, this is my build for this mech. I'm running it with 18DHS, LLas and 2 tonnes of AMS ammo. 5 out of 5 from me when I can rate it!
I've replaced one of the med lasers with a TAG from the ERLL version just to improve the heat a little and to get extra credits from missile strikes, not to mention helping the team and burning through ECM. It ran a little too hot for me otherwise. But its a nice build, even my crappy skills are scoring hits at long range, albeit not that many
Another thing I did for this was move the large lasers into the torso, as I got sick of my long range shots going into the wall I was peeking out from. The arms are just way too much to the side. Yes I lose the flexibility of the arms, but I get more shots off to the long range guys, so It suits me better.
Dual AMS chews through ammo. One ton only lasts maybe half the fight at best. Everyone who has played a couple of games in the Jester has seen their ammo run out early in the fight. 2 tons seems to last though.
The K2... I mean Jester is designed to shoot over things, not around things. So the arms make sense when used this way. They also allow you to shoot up and down while the CPLT's fairly limited torso tilt really limits torso mounted weapons. ... why can't we vote up the CPLT-J builds?
Ok, you're right, that's a good point. I'll probably move them back. Already been caught a few times with enemies on a hill above me and only able to respond with a couple of med lasers.
Cheap version of this for the C-bill deficient, with my TAG modification. Had to drop an AMS and a DHS to make it fit, but it should run cool with the drop in Medium lasers to compensate. Trots along at a respectable 73 KPH with the Jester's standard engine. Dropped an AMS to conserve ammo, but added CASE to that torso to guard against an ammo explosion and moved the ammo there from the head. Should work as well with ER Larges to your own personal taste. Also moved some armour from the back to the front of the center torso as good grief that gets hammered in combat. Good enough till you can grind the 5 mill for the XL engine.
One ton is enough for me. Yeah it runs out halfway through the fight but for most fights that is long enough. In the 2nd half of a long fight LRMs are typically the least of your worries. Sure the occasional LRM-heavy team will make you pine for that second ton of AMS ammo, but I'd rather use that ton for something that will benefit me every match rather than safeguard against an uncommon one. Obviously it is personal preference. But even with 2 AMS I think one ton of ammo is enough.
