Last night I performed horribly on Tourmaline Desert, but the ending of the drop was pretty epic. Our last mech standing was a dual AC20 K2. It was him versus 2 Stalkers and a another mech I don't recall, Hunchback maybe. The Hunchback went down in one shot. The K2 then hugged the crystals and got in a couple shots against a stalker, dropping him surprisingly, but at a cost. The stalker took out the K2's leg. He is one leg down, 28% left, 2 more shots with his AC20s, and 1 MLas. The remaining Stalker.... has no weapons. A legless K2 vs a weaponless Stalker. The Stalker was no where to be found as the K2 scanned the area at a crawl. We told him to RTB because a weaponless mech would probably head there first thing. Sure enough, half-way back to base the Stalker began to cap. 75% limp limp limp 50% limp limp limp 25% limp limp limp FINALLY the K2 walked onto the base and unloaded its last 2 shots, but it wasn't enough. The Stalker began running away with less than 2 minutes left in the game. The K2 hits him again and again with its MLas turning the Stalker a bright red, but then the Stalker ran out of sight with no chance for the K2 to catch up. The game ended in a Tie (tried uploading a video of the end, but it looks like it failed, I'll upload again tonight and add it)
Thanks it was pretty fun after I got done kicking myself. I have one more funniest thing in MWO which has to be when I kill a locust heading away from me at high speed with an AC20 Those little things fly
I'm in my K2 gaussapult that I just bought, no money for XL so just 2 Gauss and 60 rds of ammo (this was only my first week playing). Conquest on Terra therma, my team is down to me and two others, the enemy took a lot of caps early, but we got them back. Score is something like 715-500 ish in favor of them. We have the 4 periphery points, and the center is still neutral. Me and the two remaining split for the center when their last guy starts capping. I get there first, it's a Jager. Their score is climbing towards 750 now. I charge right in at him, I fire my last 3 salvos at him. Managed to rip both his side torsos off, along with all his weapons. He turns, falls off into the lava, I stay on his butt so that my team mates will know where he is going. So here we are, zombie jager, ammoless gaussapult, walking through the lava pit to the nearest fall. Neither of my remaining teamates get a shot off, nor do they recap in time. They won the match with only a single, weaponless, almost armorless Jagermech left. He got a slowclap for that one.
Aside from watching a Stalker do a headstand after being cored, this is probably the most amusing story I've experienced: I had just purchased the Protector during the Special Forces sale. I wasn't too happy with the existing loadout, but was fairly strapped for C-Bills and couldn't buy the upgrades I wanted to optimize it. With few options available, I grabbed the sole UAC and LBX from my inventory, added a couple of medium lasers, then thieved (not sure if that's a word...) one of the STD 275 engines from a Shadow Hawk since it was the biggest engine that would fit. First drop is on Canyon Network, and things get grim real fast. Hunchback and Battlemaster either disconnected or AFK within seconds of arrival. The team leaves me behind quickly with our sole Atlas for company. As the others disappear around the first bend, the Atlas then disconnects, leaving our team down by 3 and me as the heaviest. I approach the battlefield, watching as my team engages an enemy force which now outweighs and outguns us by a significant margin. Resigned to a loss I charge in, intending to cause as much havoc as I can. What comes next bears a strong resemblance to a particular scene from Episode IV. I line up on a target and begin shooting with my mismatched AC loadout. The first target quickly turns and ducks away. I focus my fire on the next target, who similarly turns and runs. Over the next minute or so I continue to charge forward, shifting from target to target with the same results. In the end, at least 8 mechs are running for their lives without a single laser bolt, missile, or AC round fired in my direction. For a brief moment I marvel at this situation and believe that we have a chance at victory. As we begin to rally however, my radar suddenly lights up with red dots. Much like the squad of stormtroopers, the opposition had a couple of seconds to get their wits together and realize they were facing a sole madman with no backup, promptly rewarding my foolishness (bravery?) with a 21 gun salute...which just happened to be pointed in a dangerous direction...lol
