Essentially a Jenner 7F taken up a notch, minus jump jets. Not too fast (unless you swap out the Standard engine and two torso DHS for an XL), but its well armoured, packs an AMS module, a Beagle Active Probe and plenty of DHS.
This is my go to mech without a doubt. I know it seems incredibly simple, with a relatively low alpha as well. However, the beauty of this mech lies in both its speed and heat efficiency. Grouping each of the arms' medium lasers into groups of 3, I have pinpoint accuracy and will rarely ever shutdown unless I get cocky. The maneuverability of this mech puts it almost on par with a light, yet it is one of the most heat efficient energy based loadouts I have seen. Yes, your alpha is not spectacular, but, you shouldn't really be worried about alpha striking in a BJ. As mentioned in other posts, the BJ has light torso armor, which deters a lot of people from using XL engines. I simply play this mech more like a light; relying on my speed and quick turns to get away. I have used a lot of different mechs and usually go to Untamedzero's posts quite often for builds, yet I have done more damage consistently with this loadout than any other build I have seen. Enjoy!
I ran this build for a while, but then just found this blasphemous build to be so much better at what I intended this mech to do...
As a Scout, BAP is quite useful for detecting enemy Mechs at range. Also, with the current state of play, missiles are quite powerful across the board, so an AMS module is a handy thing to have. The OP would actually be quite poor in it's intended role, as it is not nearly fast enough. With Scouts, as with most lighter Mechs, speed is life. Alternate Build A: Even this redesign is a little slow to be truly effective as a Scout. Probably better utilised as a fast flanker/ harasser. XL engine does make it expensive though. Note - yes, I've used Ferro-Fibrous rather then Endo-Steel. The latter left me with excess tonnage. BIG no-no!
Alternate Build B: Remove BAP, 2 DHS and add Endo-Steel upgrade. This only leaves enough free tonnage for an STD290 engine, but I'd happily trade a couple of KPH for much better survivability and an extra 3'000'000 plus change in the bank.
If you know how to pilot a BJ, You will tear it up with this build, I know I do all the time, The phoenix mechs can't pry me away from my baby. o7
I guess you want to brawl aggressively at 270m and below. For that drop some little speed and have more Armor+Cool: or you take the STD275 from a Kintaro and do this: or this:
I don't understand why you are using up the BJ's torso slots, The arms are higher up and are more mobile, Maybe for added measures of protection?, My side torso's are almost always the first to go in battle, Not many people go for the arms, not even when i'm crab running for cover.
