Love this build, first two matches over 600 damage, sadly lost because of my pugmates (typical standing still and not realising they're being shot from behind).

Using a 'cheap' variant, pulled XL275 from the SHD-5M, had 2 leftover AC2s in my garage and only needed to pay for DHS. Has a bit less max damage potential, but it's veryy effective at scaring enemies and dealing tons of damage. This ratio of AC5 and AC2 ammo seems to be working fine for an 2xAC2/AC5 build.

It does look fun! Similar DPS, a bit more at longer range perhaps. I'd probably exchange a ton of AC5 ammo for AC2.

One reason I like 2AC5/1AC2 is that it almost never overheats (Though I've done so! XD Talk about a "shooting gallery".) But I'll have to see for myself how the heat is managed with more AC2s. ^_^ Probably tonight sometime when I get home...

I'm glad you're liking the Shadow Hawk! =D

But it seems that you're also talking about a 2AC2/1AC5 build... would that be better discussed in Enileph's Cool Dakka thread?

honestly i rather prefer builds, where you have some backupweapons on other body-parts, for the case, if you lose the Sidetorso, but i have to admit, that this is a fearsome Weapon-Combo. Some should try something similar on Heavies/Assaults, so you have some backupweapons due to weight matters. ;)

Installed endosteel and a 2xAC5 + AC2 build, dakka dakka

:O it wrecks so many faces! I sometimes get a bit over zealous so i die soon enough not to run out of ammo, but I love this build (and the 3 cannons sticking from the Shadow hawk's torso

You're right that there is a risk in having all of your weapons in on area, but honestly there is no reason you should be taking much damage with this mech as it's not meant to brawl. If you're at a point where you are taking a lot of damage, to the point of losing the torso then the match is likely already lost anyway and the other team is finishing you off.

Ammo is the only real concern since once you're out that's it. But again, if you're using the mech properly (and can properly aim) by the time you run out of ammo the match should be decided on way or another.

All in all the lack of a backup weapon is virtually negligible.

I think you've said it perfectly, Chromedbustop. Having all of your cannons in the same location is actually a great advantage in the Shadow Hawk, allowing you to more easily control the stream of damage and shoot well from behind cover. In fact yesterday I went down to 26% armor with this mech, weapons still intact, before dying to superior numbers! Of course this isn't the norm, but it shows that the torsos are not so easily popped. ^_^

Also, I just updated the OP with my preferred build- XL255 and more armor to play around with (your choice of arms or legs or JJ). Still gets ~83kph too, with tweak.

And one of my best matches in the mech (Thanks to the support of other noble Mechspecs pilots! ;)):

It's a rare build that can drive an entire lance behind cover. This is one of those builds.

Ha! Skyer in his 55t mech putting my 85t to SHAME! Hell of a pilot in a BRUTAL build!

I'm still trying to get myself into the mindset to run this. As soon as I get 2x AC/5s I want to rush. I think it just comes from piloting my 2x LL, 2x AC/5 Victor for so long. I need to constantly remind myself in this build, "Hang back, play the situation, don't push it." It is a PHENOMENAL build when piloted correctly, I just need to calm down a bit before strapping in. :)

How the scrap do you aim with all the muzzle flash.

Even the blind can drive. So keep your eyes open, and simply adjust your video settings. sounds like your white is too bright.

I gave up on the 3xAC/2 build and switched to this. Oh my, what an improvement.

Yep. I struggle with the same issues myself! XD Restraining your primal urge to EXTERMINATE(!) is key to a successful life in this mech variation. Stay a bit behind a few of your brawly teammates and you will perfom nicely. =)

I naturally focus on where my shots are going, and not where they are coming from. Honestly, I have only noticed muzzle flash when I am trying to look for it.

Become one with your mech, grasshopper! ^_^

Triple AC2 is quite nice in the Deeps Department, but I am uncomfortable with the heat generation and the unwieldiness at closer ranges (due to firing AC2's from the torso instead of the arms). I'm glad you are enjoying this variation of the SHD-2H(P)! =D

458 damage on my first run, I was too pushy and got myself killed. 948 damage on my second run, this time I kept distance and stuck to cover - I even had ammo left in the end. Yup, this build works.

I'm still not over it. This build is so obscene!

Still running the XL280 1xAC5,2xAC2 variant because I'm poor and still saving for an XL255 (besides, I prefer the higher DPS of the AC2). However, it still wrecks. As long as people don't focus you, you win the match.

I wonder, if this build can compete with the OP-Build:

I wonder if a compromise could be made:

would've run an XL280 but I feel that i already have not enough ammo and I'll only burn it faster.
