Tag those enemy units for your team and try to stay away from anything sharp.

The LRMs could be quite handy as well!

Staying away from anything sharp seems to be a good idea in any Locust, what with their paper legs...

This does look like quite a useful tactical mech. You'd probably want to operate with a buddy though (or be careful where you roam). If enemy lights catch you away from your lines you'll be in trouble.

I played this yesterday as a spinoff from the Wingman-build i posted here:

    http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=4112.0

Was spotting for a Unitmate in an LRM-boat.

I felt that there is no "silent" TAGging - with firing LRMs in this mech. When you to TAG for indirect fire support behind enemy lines, its a bad idea to shoot those LRMs as they stick a big "there is he! Kill him!"-marker on you as you are giving precise info about your position within 750 meters when you are alone.

My Raven 3L did much better at this task with ECM, but i won´t compare these mechs in that.

It (the Locust) did much better with unmasking ECM-bubbled mechs (DDCs and stuff) which are engaged by teamates at midrange 500-700 meters. You don´t draw the attention too much when you are not running around them like a tard. Move between sweetspots, stay behind your big buddies and keep the TAG on the enemy and fire those LRMs as support. Then there is also a much bigger chance, that your team shoots already LRMs and the impact of an AMS is not that heavy on your DMG.

    As a behind-the-lines-TAG: 2/5
    As a support-reckon with teammates: 4/5

Mixed vote is 3/5 for now.

I will get more seating time in this before i put a vote in the system.

One is for sure: I like this mech

hmmmm, if the smurfy info about the Missilebay-Tubesizes is correct, you are firing the LRMs in 2-2-1 Missiles Streams, which will be totally annihilated by AMS. So you must find Targets without AMS. Suboptimal in my opinion. If the Tubesize would be at 5, i would say more viable though still not very powerful. I think the 3S was designed to primarily use small Short Range Missile Pods.

It fires all the missiles in one volley.
(and I believe it can fire SMR6s in one single volley too, at least that's how it's displayed in the mechlab)

I think there´s something wrong with smurfy there. I had no issues at firing the 2 x LRM5 at once in one LRM10-volley, one in each arm.

True, still not very powerful - compared to what? :cool:3

If you would fight with 12x20t-mechs vs. 12x20t mechs at different speeds, this would probably one of the better builds in its 20t-weightclass. Imho it only sucks a bit, because we don´t have really something to compare that has this weight.

Just trying to minmax the best out of what we were given :D

There are many lights that are better for this role. And those lights are less flimsy, have more tonnage, and not too slow either.
I think a commando can pull this off better than a Locust as far as this role goes

Being a LRM and tagger you don't need all those agility, but you do need a bit of armor and tonnage in case of counter fires..

Nothing wrong with smurfy, there are 2 tubes that are 6 strong in each arm. I think you read it backwards.

The original LCT-3S has 2LRM5, one in each arm, and 1ML.....
So actually it should be a 5-tuber...
I tried out a 2SRM6er.... not worth it.
