@Vergere and I threw this together and it looks to be seriously giggleworthy My version with AMS Verge's version with 1 ton more ammo
got facebleeped by a guy using this build...after he saw it here and built it...ain't that a kick in the nuts....
I like this build - need to roll this out onto the field! However, 4/5 from me....not 5/5 because I haven't yet used it. Going on a test run tonight... MT
I arrived at a pretty similar loadout when brewing for this variant. My version got a much better cooling efficiency, but lacks the reach provided by those two LL.
I tried that as well Aylek. While I think the 2 LLas version is definately more fearsome I found the 4 Mlas made it a little easier for me to maintain my dps.
Nice. Here's my version -- faster so you can get in close to use those SRMs. I wish I could squeeze AMS into it, but it's already short on armor.
5 stars for this build. Although personally I am running the 4 ML/stock engine version of it. On a side note, has anyone noticed really wonky hit detection with the SRMs recently? Its almost like 1/2 of the missile hits don't register properly, I put a full salvo into the side torso of a stalker and it barely took any damage, other times I can one shot jagers with one salvo. I realize this is all anecdotal, it's just odd.
PGI has admitted the hit detection is off with SRMs. That's why they up'd the dmg to 2 per missile to help offset other hits not registering. PGI actually allowed a poll to decide which route they'd go while they fix SRM hit detection (shocking, I know).
HA! Great minds think alike... This is how I build my 1S; 320 for some extra boost, less ammo, but, I tend to use the LL more than anything. With the speed of assaults, most smart pilots won't get close enough to let you use 6T of ammo with 16 round salvos. Plus, 3T of ammo allows for a cooler rig. However, either way, this thing does absolutely wrecks the field! I group the arm SRMs to group 3 and CT SRMs to group 4 to make sure to maximize my ammo when firing at quick targets up close. Those two SRM4s on arm actuators annihilate lights! "Oh, a Locust. Snap, LEG." I do love the combo of SRMs and LL. They make their way into most of my drops. Hope to see some footage of this monster in action, Ian!
You can fit Samdsox's build into a Standard 340 if you want to brawl up close. 12 KPH slower and with 500 ammo instead of 600 (I included AMS in mine), but still an insane amount of damage.
"The Beast v2" If you're gonna call it "The Beast" make it beastly. Everyone has got a great idea here and I'm going to drop mine. Brawling requires movement, an XL390 should do. Lots of heat management, 17 DHS should dissipate that damage inducing heat to the wind. Up close murder machine with 20 SRMS being lauched at once, plus the effective attack of 2 MPLs to bring up the crit chances, 30 crit chances is a huge number. AMS to keep those pesky LRMs off your back too. Dropping that would make room for a nice BAP if you're so inclined. All together with 800 rounds of SRMs with Artemis to round it all out. That is all Beast. Shaving the few extra kph you're gonna get from the XL400 is advantageous because of the tonnage saving, freeing up 3.5 tons giving you ample room for more ammo. The only way to get more crit % is to run machine guns. This is an absolute killhog, I'm honestly at a loss most times to run this build or my Long-range build I love them both so much.
While I love the speed of yours I just feel I can't imagine going through 8 tons of SRM ammo. If I am lucky most of the time I go through 3 or 4 tons and that's on a pretty good match. I would pull out 4 tons of ammo and put it into the lasers but thats just me and I suck so there ya go
Have to agree with Iansane - most rounds will be 3-5tons of fired SRMs before getting self killed in brawls. So no need to overload with ammo which can lead to early death by Ammo.Explosions. Better spend the tonnage for cooling and speed.
You call a XL390 and too much ammo beastly? Manly for sure, but this engine is the most testosterone you can get.
Why not risk it all when you can be blown to hell in an ammo explosion. Needless waste of ligaments, I think not. All together, I use a lot of ammo with that many SRMs going and have found myself run out before, of course that would be the outlier matches and not the standard deviation. More to the point, I disagree with dropping armor in favor of speed, whilst one would in fact wash the other in terms of survivability. The minor gain in kph over the xl390 to the xl400 is not worth the ammo critting chance at lower amounts. 800 rounds of SRMs is going to give you a total of 40 full SRM strikes and alphas of course play style would dictate that you would a) chain fire or b) group arms and torso separately so you would be shooting from wildly different angles. I do agree that a more conservative approach the the ammo amount would be necessary, but I am just not conservative with ammo hence signing on the doctrine of accuracy through Rounds per Second and keep firing until they're dead. Thanks for all the feedback!
I tried it out and it just doesn't do well for me. I think it's a killer build and I rated it 5 stars because I believe it is worthy but I have trouble making it work.
