Hi guys! I tryed out lots of mech from med to assault class. Over the tests I figured out my play style. I used LLas+AC5 in lots of battle, when at least i bought my LBX10. Best invest ever. I like simple things, so let's see it: Main weapon the LBX10. Low heat+sure hit. Laser linked, LBX10 in chain fire. I can fire on Terra with LBX10 while the mech is cooling down! And as I shot, the enemy try shoot too, and they shut down, while I still shooting. Bamm.... Snap shooting? No problem! I dont need targeting for secounds, and dont worry about waste of AC20 ammo. With LBX10 I can earn lots of assist+money. Ballistics allways disturb the targeting and if you want shoot a bird, grab your shotgun!(RIP Ravens ) -Simple handling: Left mb= Lasers, Right mb=LBX10 -Lots of ammo: 105 rounds(1k+ damage if you watch the range) -Low heating -ECM: No missile warning. Stay with others+shoot what is moveing=min 500 damage(600-800 usually).
I would say, get AMS! You just have to shave off a ton of ammo and a wee bit of leg armor. ECM helps, but you can still get tagged, narc'd or simpply PPCd, and once that happens every single enemy LRM on the map would be onto you. You WILL get beat up bad by it without AMS. You would also contribute to the AMS umbrella of the frontline. But other than that, it is simple and solid.
Nice simple build. On paper it looks a bit underpowered for an assault, since you can effectively mount the same loadout on an Ilya, though with the extra heatsinks, this is a real beast to be reckoned with. Since you have the heat capacity, I would consider upgrading to ERLLas to be able to pound enemies while you're closing.
I would take sassafras's advice, and add my own. Move the ammo from your arms into the missile torso. You lose an Arm, you lose ammo. It might be used up by the time you lose an arm, but with a few high alpha builds out there, it might be better to keep it in the side torso.
-AMS: dont really need, because in 1/10 match when I get any LRM attack. So useful get 9 more times extra ammo. -Ammo in arms: 1st ammo what we use gone from arms. SO while they can kill any of your parts, you already shoot 15 LBX, so it will empty. In other hands everybody shoot my Right Torso for ballistic weapon. -Underpower: True, it looks underpowered. And in 1st times I used SRM for higher temporary DPS. But the Atlas is a walking fortress. Everybody like shot him. So I usually stay with the other mechs, i dont go alone. When any fight start usually boths side equal or we have more mechs, or I get help in time(I play with TS party allways), so its very rare I die early match, or half time. Usually alive the game or die at end. Lets see what is the better: SRM4+1 T ammo = 3T for 250 possible damage VS 3T ammo for 450 possible damage. With my play style I choose the B, version.
I think this is a powerful build if you dont lose your right Sidetorso too fast. Having 105 Pumpgunshots (52.5 Double.Shots) is damn awesome and most times you dont have to worry about Heatproduction. Alphastrike at Long Range with deadlier strikes the closer the enemies get - that's wonderful! 4 of 5 stars for me.
